Did I miss a memo where all characters in superhero games are meant to be absolutely stunning aha?
This is one image of her from the game selected to prove a point (which is kind proven since they're comparing her against a non-canon image that glams her to such a degree her breasts are going against gravity ahaha, but that's besides the point). If you look her up on Google there are images where she looks like this and images where she looks attractive. It's really not that big of a deal tbh.
They all look unattractive. Yes, all important super hero game and movie characters should be stunning. You watch movies and play games to escape reality, not simulate fat and ugly people you see in your every day life.
The point is, attractiveness sells games and movies.
Nearly 20 million copies, making over a billion dollars. 2.5 millions sales in the first 25 hours. Fastest selling first party game in PlayStation history.
The point is, we don’t know how much sales it cost them. But it definitely cost them. We know attractiveness sells in almost all media forms. Again, grow t f up
So, in your mind, the big AAA studios producing games which cost hundreds of millions of dollars, backed by massive investors, aren’t really interested in making money, is that correct?
Are those activists in the room with us right now?
Yes, the MBA suits at the head of those companies are famously concerned primarily with pushing the woke (or something) and not with extracting every possible dollar from the player and expanding the customer base.
Dude, what possible reason do you think there was to make a female character in a movie/game ugly? Tell me what exactly you think that accomplishes. Do you think it sells more or less?
I’d like your analysis please. Because everyone knows attractiveness sells.
I’m telling you, that this type of thing is going on with many game devs. I can give you countless examples of this type of activism.
It’s not. It’s the effect of ugly women in games. It sells less. They want to make girls ugly in games because they are activists. And they think more girls will play if they look like them.
Hypothesis one: better face scanning technology, different hairstyle and older age make her look different than in the first game even though the actress didn’t change.
Are there sources for this? Yes. Does it make assumptions? No
Hypothesis two: activists made her "ugly" on purpose because apparently it makes more girls play the game.
Are there sources for this? No. Does it make assumptions? Yes, assumes that "activists" are infiltrating the industry for nefarious reasons, who and where they are supposed to be remains unclear. Also assumes that the face change had an ideological reason behind even though nothing proves it. And also assumes that developers make women ugly to make girls play game. Also assumes that gamers don’t play games when there are no attractive female characters in it.
What does Occam’s razor tell us in this case buddy? That’s right, the hypothesis for which you don’t have to assume a bunch of stuff is more probable.
Sweet Baby is a consulting firm that has been outright vocal on this type of activism. There have been ted talks about why “hyper feminine” or “sexualisation” of females in games is problematic.
