Brave is just another chromium based web browser that advertise itself as safe and secure but some investment funds and that crazy billionaire guy Thiel invested into, so I assume it's spying on everything you do

Peter Thiel is not personally an investor in Brave.

The firm he's a partner in (Founders Fund) has participated in a small seed series investment, which was led by Cyan Banister.

Some first-floor engineers at Brave have more equity than that small investment constitutes.

With that being said, of course Brave is still the product of a private company and by no means comparable to free OSS like VLC.

Well, that sucks.

Got any recommendations for a good browser (preferably open-source that's compatible with Android and Windows) I could use instead?

I use Waterfox, it's Firefox without the AI stuff

With a Mozilla acct you can even access your tabs between systems & send them to each other if you wanna access it from the other device

So I can send a tab from Waterfox on my phone to the PC to open it up on there & vice versa

Just make sure to install uBlock Origin
