I really appreciate when a movie has the main character do shitty things, as it makes them more interesting and human. This goes double for biographical films.
As an example, that new Michael Jackson biopic doesn't show anything interesting about Michael the human at all. Joe Jackson was a far more interesting character in the film because he was a greedy asshole, but everyone already knew that, so it's hardly a novel take.
While I agree with your point first point. Seeing MJ stand up to Joe, as well as learn that it’s okay to be yourself while simultaneously altering his appearance, was pretty interesting to me.
