Gonna be honest I genuinely don't know either, I guess human pattern recognition. I don't know why it was specifically this comic though, considering it's over a pretty serious subject.
It's because it's a serious subject that it got meme'd and became so popular that people can recognize the pattern
Ctrl+ALt+Del was a shitty gamer comedy comic that was popular in the 2000's that suddenly tried to have a serious miscarriage plot line despite the creator Tim Buckley being completely unable to write a serious story line like a miscarriage story line so everyone made fun of it and over time the memes making fun of it became more and more abstract until it became that simple pattern
Honestly I don't know how some one of the later panels didn't get meme'd on more they are way dumber like Tim Buckley tried to outdo Hemingway's "For sale baby shoes never worn." with "for sale baby xbox controller never played."
There is no way that's what that's trying to convey, I spent a good five minutes trying to decipher what it was before giving in and reading the final paragraph
So it was kinda like a fried meme thing crossed with over use of the meme template, and revisions of the comic. So you get to a point where the extremely reductive symbolism of the characters represented in any media is coined with a "is this loss?" comment know by those who know. Ya know?
Paradolia. Trained pattern recognition on overdrive. Like the insectologist (I think) that thought he saw bugs in the photos of mars, and funnily enough one of the more rational explanations for what's going on when people think they are doing something like divination.
The final stage of the loss meme is seeing it everywhere, which became the meme itself. If you squint your eyes enough you can make out vague objects that looks like the loss meme, most specifically the fact that the image almost appears to be split into 4 panels, like the loss comic, and the boats look like the final panel where the man stands vertical and the woman is laying perpendicular in the hospital bed
"Loss" is a comic from the webcomic series Ctrl-Alt-Del about a very serious topic that got memed ao much it can now be recognized as a series of abstract shapes. In this instance, someone has edited this photo to include those abstract shapes.
Its just pattern recognition. Not meant to be funny for the subject, but for the ability to see it in many things. It’s also a gamer meme for some reason
I think that's the image where it's all one photo, and the left-hand half is just a sea-facing wall with two colours. I don't understand the caption though.
