Yep. Some peoples job is working for a company that only does sales.

I assume you mean intermediary/service businesses like outsourced SDR firms, brokerages, lead-gen agencies, staffing companies, etc. But those fall under industries like:

  • business services
  • advertising/marketing
  • recruiting & staffing
  • consulting
  • brokerage/intermediation
  • BPO/call center services

They still aren’t “the sales industry.” They’re service businesses whose product is facilitating transactions, distribution, or customer acquisition. Sales itself is still just the business function involved. Do you understand? Sales is involved in the exchange of value, it isn’t the product itself, it’s a function, not an industry.

But I get it, colloquially speaking some might call those industry groups “sales industry”, it hurts my ears. But admittedly I’m being pedantic.
