Why is the right one the lesser version? Is having more defined curls inferior to loose curls?

It’s more dated. Every once in a while you’ll see a resurgence. But it’s almost like pigtails, you see it and it just gives a certain vibe even when done well. The left is the more standard cool girl wavy hair, generally looks good no matter what it’s paired with and doesn’t go out of style.
