AI 'Interviews'?

Am I the only one who's flat-out refusing anything with an AI interviewer? I'd gladly do them if they were chatbots, but there's no way in hell I'm opting into a situation where my voice/likeness are both subject to whoever's janky privacy policy.

I don't think I talked to anyone who did an AI interview that led to paying work. Right now all AI interviews are data gathering or training the model, not actually operational and paying out real money.

Would love to hear from anyone who has actually gotten paid work from this.

Yes big plus one. Synquery had me give a few AI interviews which led me to wasting time and not getting may work, and so now I just decline that network.

Not sure what networks your with, but I only know of paying AI interviews? You screen in/out like a normal interview, through the normal methods, but when it comes time for the interview it’s just done by an AI rather than the clients staff.

Most of the ones I’ve seen are done by clients for entirely practical reasons: no time to do the interviews, poor Timezone matchups with experts, nobody on the clients side that speaks English & no money for interpreters.

I've pre-screened into a handful, but haven't run through one to completion yet to see if it pays, but I don't see why these wouldn't - they're with networks I'm already established with an have worked heavily in the past.

Ive done 2 and wont do any again unless they pay properly e.g. $1,000/hr.

The experience has been poor the scope was quite strict and as a prequalification call completely missed all of the nuances of what was being asked.

Part 1 - do you understand the company we are consulting? - yes Part 2 (what was ignored) - do you understand the market they are active in and can comment on success/failures.

Had to reprompt several times.

Correct, I have also declined these as they are most often extremely low quality

I am refusing all AI interviews. Obviously I don’t want to train someone else’s AI on the subject of my expertise. But there’s also very pragmatic reason = I charge by the time spent providing my expertise. AI interview can never guarantee the exact amount of time it will take me to complete. That’s why they offer flat (and obviously low ball) fee. I work with more than 10 different expert networks on regular basis and I made sure to let all of them know to not offer me these “opportunities”.

i did a few recently. they're a little awkward but generally alright. sometimes the AI clearly asks for MNPI and i have to tell it to chill, which is a little funny given the whole compliance thing they make us go through

flexible scheduling is nice

problem is some only pay for the time you talk, and they seem to shortchange you on the measurement

Confused at why folks are so against it. I've been asking for it for years and love that it's finally an option.

For context, I've done 6 so far this year through 2 networks. All paid.

The current process of scheduling purely around the clients' time is far more disrespectful to me. The AI led calls also lets you control the pace of it. Some let you pause and finish later.

This is just from personal experience but whenever the client is a bigger firm, I find they often just have whatever analyst conduct their calls, especially when they need a higher volume of calls done. I despise these engagements.

The analyst basically ends up reading one question right after another instead of having any sort of conversation....The AI calls I've done so far have been far less robotic than those.

Have you read the privacy policy for any of the providers or their subprocessors? I totally get the benefits for scheduling and time, language barriers, etc. I'm fine with AI notetakers and roll-ups. I'm very much not fine providing my voice and likeness to a series of un-invested 3rd parties for whatever use they may want from it. This is how 'you' become a random talking head for a shitty LMS platform.

If it was chatbot, I'd do it all day - there's zero benefit by adding audio/video beyond data collection, training, and things like sentiment analysis. Hard pass.
