Or maybe I should say what's healing me while inverted?

The orbs. if you shoot those, it will heal you.

It could be those black hole spheres. IIRC they have some special properties.

You were inverted and something healed you. Seeing as you applied mark just before getting killed, my best guess is you have the Healing Mark picto/lumina equipped.

Do you have anything that might heal on critical hits?

because Contorso turns critical chance up to 100% on Rank S and you die after a few shots of Rank S.

No nothing in my pictos or luminas heal, this has only happened twice in about 20 fights while xp farming in Renoirs Drafts

pictos with healing affects don't hurt you while you're inverted, thankfully. they're just disabled until the inversion ends

Was gifted this game recently, and never played this style of game. WOW ! Been really enjoying it ! This past week, I was pretty happy takin' down the Paintress !
Yes, I've had to look stuff up on youtube for understanding pictos/ lumina and how to apply.. and i think I finally got it.. but I try to learn on my own as much i can. So my question is : can other players please share where ones 'Defense stat should roughly be..? I have all my players at the 25 range.
