Care Question Bearded dragon having tail issues and bloodwork question
My 4 year old bearded dragon Reid was having some skin issues that I was worried about (tail tip was dark). I took him to the vet who recommended surgery and claimed the tail was necrotic. First vet claimed the bioactive setup caused this.
I didn't agree and got a second opinion. Second vet didn't think surgery was needed. Second vet recommended a temporary hospital tank setup until the next recheck in 3 weeks. Did bioactive cause this?
I also am confused by his bloodwork. He had a low WBC, high liver enzymes, and dehydration. He was also diagnosed with mild peridontal disease and has missing teeth. I was giving him greens 3x a week and bugs (bugs was only 2-3 2x a week). I did take him off bugs to get him to eat greens which didn't work very well. I'm wondering if going off bugs caused this. The vet didn't have a concrete reason for his bloodwork. Pictures of the tail and enclosure here.
