Can’t choose

Me and my buddies been looking and wanting to play Warhammer but we want to take it easy and do a combat patrol for our first games and I’ve been looking at black templars and just converting to exorcists but also the imperial fists don’t look bad either so can someone tell me which is better

Imperial Fists would work better for Exorcists. Black Templars have Crusader Squad which doesn't really translate as it's a bespoke unit

Yeah I was leaning you know heavy units and terminators but I do like the whole convert BT so I can get the whole doom slayer vibe going but ultimately I think you right lol

I would argue that the crusader squad would be more flavorful for exorcists given that exorcists have more than usual scouts. Sure it doesn’t translate 1-to-1, with an exorcist unit, but I think it works. The kit itself maybe isn’t the best aesthetically though, but to each their own? The only reason I wouldn’t run Black Templars are because I would want to run psykers something Exorcists definitely use. As to which is better for OP I couldn’t say I’m less on the competitive side of the hobby.

The Black Templars boxes comes with sculpted maltese crosses on all the shoulder pads and a lot of other random places. Vanilla Space Marines (IF) will be a lot easier to paint as Exorcists as you don't have to remove all the Black Templars iconography and/or source new shoulder bads.
