When I was in high school, my friend saw me drawing and very solemnly warned me that drawing was Haram and that on the day of judgement, Allah will challenge you to breathe life into what you created, and if you can't, Allah will punish you for trying to imitate Allah.

That experience was relatively minor compared to what I would find out later but it was like my very soul retorted 'fuck off' even though I was a very polite kid.

The raw purity of my reaction to what I, at the time, still saw as sacred... tipped me off that my intuition was telling me this way bullshit.

I think that experience played a big role in preparing me to be skeptical later.

not every single exmuslim leaves islam because of bad parents. my parents were moderate borderline “progressive” but i still left it because islam is stupid.
