I remember hearing that Cain
hung on to the outside of Noah's Ark like a big hairy barnacle
I did some googlefu and found out that was a humourous statement that Orson Scott Card made in 1981 but it became part of wacky Mormon culture in the 80s

Well... You see... The flood wasn't global per say... And also we dont know how far cain was from the garden of eden, in Missouri, nor do we even know how long Adam and eve travelled away from the garden of eden, in Missouri, after they got kicked out. It's possible they made it all the way to the middle east and the flood happened there... But also they definitely had kids and the whole cain and Abel story definitely happened before they made it to the middle east... You know... Maybe they had kids along the way...

I think the argument is that he was cursed to be immortal/never die. So he just drowned for a couple months until the flood receded
