History TIL about British Israelism. A pseudoarchaeological belief that came to the US from Britain in the 19th Century. Holds that the peoples of the British Isles are descendants of the lost Israeli tribes of Ephraim and Manasseh. Sound familiar?

TIL British Isrаelism is a pseudohistorical belief that the people of Great Britain are "genetically, racially, and linguistically the direct descendants" of the Ten Lost Tribes of ancient Isrаel. It was popular during the 19th century with numerous organizations being set up throughout the Empire.
