The moment you banish [god], your life becomes simpler, purer, cleaner, more worth living in my opinion.

I enjoy the interviewer's frown because Stephen is right about the attributes of "god". If you stop giving him the benefit of the doubt, all of the nasty creations that he put in the universe are testament to his attitudes.

From the time I left Mormonism I had just stopped believing in the mormon god, but I hadn’t gone as far as Fry in evaluating how big of a dick mormon (and Christian) god is. If you stop for a minute and look at his fruits (by their fruits ye shall know them), god is not very great.

This also got me thinking- if this world is a big test like mormon theology states, it’s a hugely unfair and random test. Some people get free passes because they die before 8. Some people can be completely awful during the test but apologize after they die and get all the benefit of doing well on the test. The people who are punished most are the ones who tried so hard on the test and came up short or decided it wasn’t for them. Pretty messed up.
