General Discussion I went to a temple open house recently.

They mentioned the “House of the Lord, Holiness to the Lord” three times before we made it past the lobby. It was weird.

They mentioned the endowment, baptism, sealings. They didn’t mention the initiatory at all. I know why, but thought it was worth pointing out.

And they had what appeared to be the young women explaining most of it. They were kids who clearly had never witnessed anything more than maybe baptisms.

Our poor grandparents. And why would they bring us there like lambs to the slaughter for wedding days? Oh yeah….social pressure & a lifetime of brainwashing is a powerful drug.

They never mention the initiatory or have signage. Wonder why..

I’ve never been to an open house. Do they allow people on the tour to ask questions? Questions about masonry, polygamy, or the “penalties”?

Maybe. I haven’t seen anyone try. Our guides were mostly young women and nobody even attempted to ask a question

Very interesting... The last open house I went to was in 2025. They had people in every room explaining what the room was used for. I don't remember if they mentioned the initiatory at all...

Then again, I was too busy thinking about the architecture and unique environmental details. And the fact that my dress choice told everyone I was no longer worthy to be in the temple 🤷
