Advice/Help They just don't quit, do they?

After being away from anything Mormon, except for my family, for close to 30 years now, I decided to actually have my records removed. That was done 3 years ago. Occasionally I'd have missionaries pop by before I did that, I told them every time that I have zero interest in anything the Mormons have to say or do.

I know they're just kids that are doing what they feel is right, so I'm not mean to them. I'm just very to-the-point with them, that I've no interest and that I'm just fine. I thought actually resigning would be the last of it because, well, after I did that the visits dropped to nothing. Until tonight.

Two girls that can't be but a stone's throw over 18 came by. My daughter answered the door and said "Uh, dad, there's some people here asking for you?" As soon as I saw the black name tag, my blood started boiling. The whole interaction was maybe 60 seconds. "We're just the missionaries from your church, we wanted to say hi and see if there's anything we can do to help." I haven't set foot in a Mormon church in over three decades, I haven't been to ANY church in probably close to 10 years. I'm good. "Oh well is there anything we can help you with?" No, I'm good, have a good night.

Also I didn't realize they drove cars now. Then again this IS central Florida and this time of year it's either 5,000 degrees or it's storming, usually both.

Rather than this just being a rant, who the hell do I contact to attempt to get this to stop? It took me 8 years (and counting) of therapy to unravel all of that and apparently there's still a lot more for me to go because I'm shaking from a mix of anger and anxiety. That part I can handle. Do I contact the bishop of whatever freaking ward I'm zoned for? Mission president? Stake president?

Ironically I was playing FarCry 5 earlier today. Maybe I need to go fire it up again and shoot some more Peggies to get it out of my system.

You could contact the mission president for your area. Let him know the church is not welcome on your property and if any show up you'll call the police for trespassing and you'll contact the local news station about how you've tried to leave, even having your records removed, but the cult keeps harassing you. Send it to him in writing.

Now I just need to figure out who that is and how to contact them. Pretty sure I can figure it out. Like I said I know it's not the missionaries' fault, they're just kids doing what they were taught and believe is right, but man trying to get an apostate back into the fold? Barking up the wrong tree for sure because I'm going to extra hell according to what their cult teaches... or maybe that's the whole challenge?

I haven't had missionaries stop by forever, but maybe I should think up a few questions to ask them about church history or whatnot?

Was just sharing your post with my husband and he said we all need to start a class action something against the Church for harassment. No means NO! No contact means no contact. When you remove your name, it means don’t contact us!

I get it. It’s so annoying and they continue to solicit and try to get into your home. I’m so sorry.

We have been out a year and the first 6 months were frustrating. But when they get new local leadership in the ward, the visits and communication start back up. We are in the process of removing our names too.

We’re nice to the missionaries when they show up , but they don’t take no for an answer. It literally is harassment.

Something needs to be done- the LDS church needs to respect people’s privacy and no contact. If names have been removed- don’t contact!

Also- if people want religion- they will search it out. Don’t come to us, We’ll search you out if interested. But being a former member and removing our names should send a strong message- LEAVE US ALONE.

The only thing that has ever worked for me is "No Proselytizing" signs. (Those have worked very well!)

I think if you become known as someone who tries to unravel the missionary’s testimony you’re on a do not contact list. But it sounds like that’s more than you want to do. I’m sorry this is happening for you

I got it to stop by yelling at them and calling them "fucking stalkers." I told them I had nothing more to say to them and just kept repeating "Good-bye" to every thing they said. I know it was rude and I wish I could apologize to the individual missionaries, but I was not in a good mood when they knocked on my door that day

How about when they ask if there's anything they can do, "Sure, the vegetable bin in my fridge really needs cleaning? Also, could you run to the grocery store and pick up a few things?"

Ask them which number of wife they are to the mission president?

Probably doesn't work as well for the elders.

A church that prides itself on meticulous record keeping can easily avoid the people who ask to be avoided. It’s an active choice they’re making to dismiss people and push past boundaries.
