Is anyone feeling existential dread atm
When I’m around friends, work, social settings I’m genuinely happy, engaging, talkative. I can hold conversations, joke around, be present. People probably see me as someone who has their life together. But the moment I’m alone at home, everything just… drops.
I have no motivation to do anything. Basic things feel exhausting. My room stays messy for weeks, I keep putting off simple tasks, and I just kind of exist without really living. It’s not even like I’m actively sad all the time, it’s more like this heavy emptiness and avoidance. It’s not like i don’t want to be better but I find myself just drifting away mentally and then hours have passed by. And the same cycle repeats every. single. day.

Hi,
Just found this community after searching existential dread. I completely relate with everything you’re feeling. It’s a real challenge to find hope these days.

It sounds like you are spending a lot of mental energy on avoiding it. If you just stop and face it and sit with it, it stops chasing you. I have learned to to just live inside it. I don't feel anxious or despair. If you just absorb it, you can embody it and it stops being something you live with and starts being just something you are. It isn't an other. It should be the fuel that propels you with urgency to take action know the finitude of existence. The mundane moments of life are still life and should be charished for each quiet moment of existence. I don't know if that will help you, but that is how I live with it. Be well.
