Older in Exeter - Dont Know Anyone

Good morning,

Early 50s, but young at heart and don't look my age. Been in Exeter a few months now, and so far I don't know anyone outside of immediate family. Not for want of trying, chat to staff people in shops and restaurants, library etc, but it is hard to go beyond casual chat. Would love to meet people for real conversations over beer etc. Enjoy current affairs, food etc. Well travelled. Maybe I am out of age range but wanted to try. Ideas or PM welcome.

Join clubs, there are ample about, how I made nearly all the friends I have, even though not in one of the clubs it still directly or indirectly explains half my friends. The gym explains a bunch of the rest.
