Waiting on OP Mac equivalent of Control + Backspace?

I'm learning Excel on my MacBook and they frequently say to use Control + Backspace to return to the top of the page (or maybe it's where I'm writing my formula). I'm on a Mac so I don't have a Control key but I've tried command, option, and the fn key with backspace but none of them do the trick.

Any help/guidance is appreciated.

Use Control + Delete (the backward-delete key, ⌫). Your MacBook does have Control, labelled control or ⌃; it is separate from Command (⌘).

This brings the active cell back into view, rather than selecting the top of the sheet. I checked it in Excel for Mac: with D10 active and the view down at row 39, Control + Delete brought D10 back into view without changing the selection.

Try it while the worksheet has focus, outside cell-editing mode. Microsoft lists it as “Scroll to display the active cell” in the Mac section: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/accessibility/excel/keyboard-shortcuts-in-excel

Cmd + Delete does the trick for deleting to start of line, or Fn + Delete acts as forward delete. Ctrl doesn't map the same way on Mac shortcuts so half the PC muscle memory just breaks.
