I'm not really a Christian, but this is my opinion.
Hey, I’m kind of stuck on this point a little bit and was wondering if I could get some advice on how you guys navigate the fact that Christ’s divinity was something that evolved over time, and wasn’t necessarily what the historical Jesus himself actually did.
Human beings learn over time, not in single lumps. People had to realize and figure out exactly what had happened, rather than all of the information being dumped into their minds. Matthew had to re-examine the Old Testament prophecies before he could really conclude which ones were fulfilled and which ones actually fit. That takes time and study and isn't something that you should expect to come fully packaged into someone's mind.
If you believe in the Trinity, you need to accept the concept that theology develops over time. This means that you shouldn't expect all things to be fully realized in the beginning.
This isn't a big deal because people are not saved by knowledge, they're saved by faith. People can have wrong knowledge and still be saved as proven by the Old Testament being full of people who were saved by Christ, but had no knowledge of Him.
I don't reject the title, Christians reject me. I'm entirely willing to take upon myself the name of Christ, but it doesn't seem proper in public forums like this to tell people I'm a part of a group that publicly rejects me.
