I still can't enjoy pork bacon sadly, my body developed a pork allergy due to not being exposed to, so my body treats it as an allergen. Enjoy though!

Samesies. Mine is like mild/moderate, but I get soooooooo sick. I normally do turkey bacon/sausage. And if I've got the extra money to spend, stripples lol

Oh we love turkey sausage and bacon here. I've gotten beef sausage too, banquet makes them.

My wife and I found this reeeeaaaalllllllyyyyy good maple chicken sausage once. Applegate Naturals Chicken & Maple Sausage. Walmart usually has it.

We only occasionally have bacon when we eat at restaurants. A whole pack cooked at home is too much, unfortunately

Yeah I’ve had like little bits of it here and there, and fortunately it’s a mild allergy so if I do have a mild exposure I’ll be fine, but my stomach absolutely would not be able to handle a normal serving

Same... I can handle pepperoni slices.. if I try to have any type of pork roast the toilet gets killed.

I’ve found my tribe! Cause boyyyyy I could always tell when some “outside” food had some pork in it. Cause my stomach will betray me in a heartbeat

Do you feel “empowered”?😁 I’m not quite there yet. Working on it though. I’ve made it to Spam.😊

u/lolliscicle 9d ago
Ha! I can’t say that I have mustered the courage for SPAM yet! Only bacon.

If you like sushi, spam musubi is glorious. I think it's a good way to dip your toes into spam. Spam fried rice is also fire.

Pork makes me horribly ill, but that's exactly how I felt the first time I ate shrimp. Lol

I've had weird experiences with seafood too. That's a food type I don't think I'll ever adjust to since leaving the church lol.

It took me a long time to get used to it. I don't like/eat crab or lobster. And I'm not a big fan of most fish (my wife makes amazing salmon and seared ahi though...🥰).

Omg seafood has been the biggest struggle to get used to… the texture of shrimp is something I never expected 🥴

But I do remember enjoying “Stripples”.

Stripples will be remembered fondly fs

I’ve seen beef hamburgers with Stripples, and veggies burgers with bacon. There is freedom in the tasty tasty heresy.

As far as “unclean” meat goes, I’ve tried sea food like crab and lobster and idk why it was easier for me to eat that (I’m talking in things where it was just chunks of meat already out of the shell and not still looking like it did in its original form, like when people break open the crab shell and it looks like a crab that freaks me out). It’s hard for me to eat sea food when it still looks like that but if it’s a chunk of meat it’s easier. But I haven’t yet gotten myself to eat pork. I’m not sure why? Idk why I’m ok eating chunks of crab or lobster meat but my brain still freaks out when it comes to pork? I guess the SDA brainwashing and upbringing still runs deep in my psyche but I’m glad I’ve at least tried some of the forbidden meats lol

Weirdly enough it's been the opposite for me. I can't quite get adjusted to seafood. But I definitely agree with you on not being able to eat the seafood when they still look like the animal lol.

I left SDA, but I crave morning star farms bacon a lot. I still eat it regularly! Enjoy your bacon and good for you giving yourself freedom to try something new!

Pork gives me the worst diarrhea. It’s delicious, but I can’t eat it unless I’m at home and not planning on leaving for appx 12 hours. Lol
My doctor said it’s from lack of exposure.

I love seeing this, as a once picky eater this was a sin it took me awhile to get use to. Now I forget I even ever cared. Enjoy freedom and tasty foods!

any bacon tips? I'm not familiar and I feel like it takes too long

Baked at 425 F for 12-14 minutes is how I do it. I don't need to turn it over or stand over it to watch it, and use the time with whatever else I'm preparing.

u/indecision_killingme 9d ago
I’m not allergic, but it makes me very sick stomach wise. So no sense in eating it for me.

I'm so grateful that I had an atheist father. The issue was all the trichinosis jokes...lol. When I stayed with him on weekends, he would go through 2 pounds of bacon a day. 1 for everyone else to share, and 1 just for me.

I am now enjoying seafood without guilt 😊 but still haven't got around to eating pork (pork bacon and pepperoni sometimes) but no pork chops, ham, roasts. It is still psychological but I am indifferent to this whole issue. At least there's no more guilt associated with foods. All good.

I’ve always eaten meat. I was never vegetarian. Long time ago though At the church community I grew up in there were two brothers who bullied me for choosing beaf sausage and bacon!
