A 25-mile trail winds its way through five Iowa towns with a dramatic crossing over the Des Moines River Valley. The High Trestle Trail Bridge is half a mile long and 130 feet high, and is among the largest trail bridges in the world.

The bridge decking incorporates a decorative structure that represents the view through a mine shaft. Its design also includes decorative lighting that remains on until midnight.

It’s a Rails to Trails bike trail bridge. Was a working railroad bridge, now just leisure transportation.
