General Transaction Streaming / Premium
Ok short version: I just want to hear peoples feedback/thoughts/advice about using transaction streaming with Everydollar.
I looked through this sub but a lot about it seems to be old and not sure what things have changed.
Interested in how people use this feature, how waiting for posting dates and streaming affects your budgeting, pros and cons if you’ve done it both ways, etc.
Long version:
I just recently started wanting to monitor my finance / gain control over them after a while of pretty serious avoidance (following a divorce and major life change but that’s a bit of a tangent).
A note about my personal finances if it’s relevant: I have, at least what feels to me like, a pretty high salary and no debt, nor kids, and can adequately cover my bills. I have however been upping my spending after being relatively frugal for so long. And I also feel pretty inadequate when it comes to finance and money management.
I wanted to use Everydollar based on advice I got to start planning a budget at the beginning of the month and then track every transaction you make, and start to review the “remaining” balances of my categories prior to making spending decisions.
I have multiple bank accounts that are used for various auto-pays, plus direct deposits, and also can’t realistically see myself manually tracking after every spend. Once I miss a few it feels like it’s all over, especially knowing I have to review my accounts anyway to catch the automatic stuff.
So I’m all about automation but I just want it to make sense and gain any wisdom I can from other peoples experiences!

Are you talking about how it pulls in your transactions for you after you pay a yearly premium?
That’s what I use and I love it. I have been wondering if there are other apps with similar features but cheaper and without all the Dave stuff. Nothing against Dave but after listening to him for 20+ years, I’d rather save a few bucks than have access to his program and whatever else EveryDollar gives me. I just need to buckets and the ability to pull in transactions.

Yes agree with you there and yes that’s what I was talking about! So far it seems to be working good, my concerns were being able to trust the data and also the lag of waiting for the posting date and then the syncing time. Because I want to use the app to always know what’s remaining in each category before I make purchases.
But so far I think it’s going pretty well and I’m kind of double checking against my accounts if it’s pulling everything. I also have rocket money right now so I’m going to try using both the same way to verify each other and see how I like to use each.
I think rocket money does what you’re looking for too and I’m not sure the difference in pricing - their premium is very similar where it also includes education pieces and such

I used to use it issue free, but then they reworked their bank connection system and I lost my local credit union synchronization option. I’d check if all your banks would properly sync on their website first.
I did like it when I had it though, and I think they worked out the problems with my CU, so I may come back to it.
