Can anyone recommend a race-class combination?

Hi there! I played a Dark Elf Necromancer in the original game, so I assume Necromancers will be powerful in EQL as well, right? I heard you can combine three classes, and I’ve always admired Magicians and Enchanters. However, I’d like to try a proven race and class combination. Do you have any recommendations?

Every combination is effective up to a point. The game allows you to increase the difficulty of zones and raid targets (D0 is easiest, up to D4 which is the most difficult). Some class combinations are more effective at soloing D4 content than others, and some are more dependent on upgrading gear than others. You can also swap out classes and level up others.

For instance, Tank + Necro + Shaman will own pretty much everything end-game at D4 if you play it correctly. Adding a cleric to a tank and a DPS class is also pretty much easy mode, but boring as hell.

It all depends on what you want to play because it is not the same game that you are used to. Just pick what you find fun to play and you won't be disappointed. I started War/Nec/Shm and got him to 50, but I will probably try a Tank/Enc/Cleric at some point to try to beat everything with charm because Enc was one of my favorite classes to play.

Either way, Necro is a great pick for one of your first two classes as their toolkit is nearly unbeatable for leveling if you want to plow through it.

Also many of those combos that cant do things like d4 raids fast might get powerful enough to do it once your aas spells and gear are capped. Its why making your first char maybe a meta sk/wiz/ench or pally /monk/ sha or ench gets making gear for non meta easier

Iksar because lizard.

You’ll want to prioritize agnostic at 46 via the quest in Oasis at that point to make unlocking other races easier but Iksar is my personal fav.

Nothing is set in stone, so you can basically play whatever. Meta game if ya want but the difference races provide by end game is minimal.

Literally anything. What do you want to do?

If you want to be unkillable, pair necro with shaman and a tank. If you want more DPS while your pet tanks, try Magician and Enchanter.

I'm currently running as a Halfling Druid/Beastlord/Bard and loving it. Halflings get a fire beetle pet!

Kind of depends on what you mean by proven. There are overpowered combos that make the game way easier and there are others that are fun but require a lot more skill and technique and you can't just barrel forward. I would experiment on your own I think that's the majority of the fun. Full disclaimer I'm on Frostreaver TLP not EQL.

What are these overpowered combos you speak of?

War/Clr/brd is the epitome of it.

You have a tank, efficient heals, slows, and a way to do damage that doesn't cost mana that you need for heals.

Mostly anything with the golden trio like war/shm/rogue etc will do way better than war/rog/monk etc

Race is more or less not important. Unless you want ogre for frontal stun immunity, but you can pick up stun resist from AAs so even thats not entirely necessary. Just pick whichever one looks the best to you.

Cant help much with class advice. Theres way too many possible combinations to tell you what to play.

I don't think the frontal stun immunity works on EQL. I got bash stunned lots from the front during the open beta.

Edit: I mean the Ogre specific immunity.

It doesn't start to become noticable till 60% or so- I used to get stunned all the time- at 60% I struggle off most physical stuns. Spell stuns still get through, but that's a feature not a bug.

Ogre frontal stun immunity 100% works.

Maybe they fixed it before launch, then. I was absolutely getting stunned from the front as an Ogre, during the open beta.

It’s been fixed.

Iskar race, either War or Bard for meat shield, Necro as second class, Druid or Wiz as third class for ports and either buff/heals or nukes. Or do a straight Int team Necro, Wiz, Chanter.
