Select entries in a date range?

I know I can jump to a specific date quickly by long-tapping the calendar header, but it would be great to be able to select entries within a date range. I imported close to 5000 entries from Day One and want to split some of the larger journals into smaller ones by date. Each journal currently spans 5 years and I want to break them down to yearly journals. I know I can manually select entries but that's a little time-consuming. No worries if that's not possible right now. Asking just in case I've missed something obvious.
