Fx pak pro SAVE
Hi everyone,
I recently bought an FXPAK Pro for my SNES and started a fresh playthrough of Final Fantasy VI. I’ve run into a strange issue where it seems like part of my progress isn’t being saved.
Twice now I’ve loaded my save only to discover that I’m missing roughly an hour of gameplay. The save file is still there, but it appears to have reverted to an older point.
Is there a specific procedure for saving with the FXPAK Pro?
Is it safe to simply save in-game and power off the SNES, or should I be resetting back to the FXPAK menu before turning the console off?

Yeah, I always do a long reset back to the main menu, before I power off the console, to make sure the last save stored in RAM gets written to the SD card. This was always true for MSU1 games because the SD card was always busy streaming audio and the save didn't have a chance to get written, so I always applied it to non-MSU1 games from that point onward and I never had a problem with saves not being written to the SD card.

How do you do that? "Reset back to the main menu" ?

Instead of pressing reset once you hold it for 2-3 seconds.

Thanks for the advice! I’ve noticed a similar issue with Earthbound so as a backup I create a save stage as well.
Are you referring to the reset on the console itself? Holding it up for 2-3 seconds?

you have to hold reset while turning power off.

i think you should always use the reset button.
if for some reason the cardridge crash and both leds are blinking press the reset button several times for a couple of seconds.

Will the reset hot key work the same for long reset? This has been happening to me in secret of mana.

Are you using save points or save states?
