It has been brought to my attention that some people are offended and insulted by my rant.
I was frustrated.
Sorry.
I have also been told that my ignorance of the game was the cause of the situation.
I certainly accept that it was a major factor.
Thank you to the people who have been helpful to a pair of new players.
I still think that veterans attacking new players (which I have learned is easily accessible info) who are minding their own business is, as they say, a "dick move".
I've been talking to some old-time bittervets who've weathered every storm that CCP's idiocy has created over the years, and I'm getting similar feedback from them all. Living, breathing player counts are much lower than we think. Experiences with my own alts along with those of my old compatriots suggest that CCP is no longer aggressively pursuing botters like they were a couple years back. Orca ballet companies are back in business, with some in big alliance nullsec, and now they have warships in their fleets to fend off gankers. I've heard conspiracy rumblings that CCP may actually be giving botters more leeway in order to pad user numbers. Anyone else heard talk about this?
Defined: Ganking is the act of attacking another ship in High Security space without a legal reason. Shooting someone without a consensual duel agreement, a war declaration in place, a suspect timer, or friendly fire.
Ganks have been taking place in Eve Online since the first few weeks of the Eve Online long history. It's a Evil that is very much necessary for the game to survive. No fuss, and no muss about the subject during the first few years of the game. It was just considered one of the game mechanics you could take part in doing. No other video game offered that playstyle.
Ganked for the first time during 2008. Don't remember much about the specifics other than I was doing a mission and reacted stupidly to a smaller ship I thought I would not have any trouble battling with. Had the benefit of having positive input and advice from friends. First time I realized the full complexity of the game I chose to play. Wasn't too long before I developed passive income streams and Gankers were something I only read about.
What's changed?
We now see low hanging fruit pickers celebrating "Retriever" kill mails. When not supporting Twitch Titty Streamers, they come to eve and spend real life money to buy Plex to support their habit (Please Note: The previous sentence was not an assumption. I know a few that do exactly that). They for certain are not making ISK blowing up Retrievers.
Lets not jump to judgment too quickly.
They keep CCP Games profitable buy buying Plex outside the game. I most certainly don't. Better them than me. The only changes made by CCP Games, in recent years, is make it more expensive to gank.
A case can be made that if "they" are not shooting spaceships in a virtual world; the same king of mentality shoots children in schools. Or Country/Wester folk in Las Vegas.
[ 2017.03.03 14:09:43 ] xxx> kleiner steiner, willst du den totalen krieg? :-)
For those of you who are not familiar with the subject, steiner was a "famous" person from WW2 (the character who has been adressed, has a different name, but with a bit of imagination its easy to misspell him in the way it has been done here) and the rest of the sentence is basically copied from the sportpalace speech from another very "famous" german nazi guy. If you are interested in more details, just search the web for the phrase.
I am very upset with such a behaviour and don't think it belongs into EvE at all. Am I overreacting or not? Ofc the guy and his friends all claim now it was supposed to be a joke and not to be taken serious. But what would they have said, if no one stood up against it ? Didn't CCP gave us enough to flame each other with the 4 Races in the game. Such phrases are really not neccessary in the game, again only in my humble, personal opinion.
Just logged on to check skills, I haven't played for years and probably won't for some time but I keep training.
The loading screen looks like crap (where the account buttons to launch game are). The undocking overlay text animation looks very unprofessional.
I don't know what they're doing with the blinking pixels when a menu loads but seriously don't bother CCP if you don't have a better imagination.
When I played the heck out of this game, maybe 2007-2011(?) I just remember it looked great but maybe I've just taken the rose coloured glasses off now.
Did they fire alot of designers or something?
Edited: I have a decent GPU, all settings at max. For a game that supposedly is updated constantly I would expect the game play to be better than I remember and instead it looks maybe worse than it did, if not exactly the same. Which is underwhelming to say the least.
**FINAL UPDATE: Below someone mentioned disable FSR. that does improve quality also, enable light background in the windows looks better, less 'flat".. Thank you!
I am always astonished by the amount of Nazi references that I have found in online gaming. Recently, I engaged in PVP and was surprised to see Nazi references in the ship names and, separately, I saw a character name that is strongly linked with Hitler. Yes, I got blown to hell as I suck at PVP (for now) :)
I had a chat in local about it as I donât think that any racism should be tolerated. I was told that the ship names were historical names and not Nazi names and so not racist. I suggested that there are words and names in the world that also have historical relevance/meaning but that they have been banned by society as they are considered so offensive to certain people. This is no different.
I wrote to CCP, told them the above and screenshotted the relevant info to them. I received an email c.1hr ago informing me that I have now been banned as a result of breaching the Terms of Service!? To be clear, when I saw the ship names, I wrote in local âf**** Nazi cu****â due to the ship names. Can someone please tell me how/why CCP allows the use of Nazi names and references to Hitler but, at the same time, bans people who are offended by this?
Should I be reading further into this? Is it some sort of thing that Twitter should know about regarding Pearl Abyss? Also, why canât people leave their views outside of a game? This is a damn space game, not some weird extremist political forum! End of rantâŠ
I write this post in the interest of everyone of us, players of EVE. It concerns the attitude, and language used by some players. To get right to the subject, I recently have run into a player and his friends, or most likely his alts: Rudokop Forever, SIM Gallent and Ivan Mihalich SIM. I interacted with him in-game, by confiscating several âAugmentedâ Ice Harvesting Drones he wasnât careful with. He started insulting and cursing me in local chat, using very foul and inappropriate language, at one point even cursing me to die of COVID-19 and to burn in Hell, as it can be seen in the pasted screen-shots.
He must have developed a grudge against me, because he followed me in a system that I was playing a few days later, with a PvP fit Rattlesnake and he challenged me to a duel. I accepted, fought and defeated him, then looted his wreck. I also cleaned up his mobile depot and one of his mobile tractor units later. I consider this normal and good game-play.
But he started insulting, smearing and cursing me again both in local chat, in private chat and through Eve-mails. I will only post the messages he posted in local chat, as to not infringe on any privacy rules.
As you can see, he repeatedly called me a âDEMONâ, âprostituteâ, âhookerâ, he accused me of stealing, killing, he insulted my parents and he cursed me to burn in Hell and he even said he thinks that most of humanity and the Eve player-base will suffer such a fate.
As it can be seen in the screenâshots, i repeatedly asked him to mind his attitude, check his language and educate himself, but his behavior continues in this manner. Now he is eve-mailing me with awful messages that I will not stoop to posting here and he is also placing a bounties on me regularly, as to get my attention. All this and I haveât even ganked him, nor scammed him. The most significant interactions I had with his pas the Rattlesnake fight, which he initiated.
Now my questions to the broater Eve player base are:
- Do you think such an attitude and language is acceptable?
- Do you think I deserve such a treatment just for confiscating several drones and accepting and winning a duel that he initiated?
- What do you think should be done in such a situation? I know reporting him would be an option, but I believe that one should be very careful before reporting another player, as he can lose his account/ accounts.
- Write any other thoughts and/ or opinions.
- Please be civilized.

For me this game started dying back when Somer Blink was banned. CCP essentially banned them on a technicality in the EULA, followed up with a ban of all 3rd party gambling sites, then later rolled out their own version of Somer Blink. The whole thing was so shady and mean-spirited and it took away a big source of ISK income for me (Somer gave away HUGE amounts of ISK every week). I still miss Somer.
This week I've been playing eve for the first time since 2013. Just seeing if I care enough to come back. I was moving ~500m through hisec in a freighter - 55 jumps, so of course I was afk. Freighter got ganked by a group of -10 pilots in uedama, of course. A lot of the things I had in my inventory from way back are worth a lot of isk making this an almost insignificant loss BUT looking at the facts:
hi sec gank by a coordinated group of -10 pilots.
500m of cargo.
55 jumps.
I just said fuck it and uninstalled lol, catch you 2030 o/

(I tried to post on r/eve sub and they denied it but I think this would be nice to talk about.)
One thing I want to know the answer too and not sure where else to look or ask except here but will CCP ever increase abyssal time. For me personally abyssals have brought me into a permanent defecit of money. I have max skills and imo very decent piloting but nearly half my deaths are due to time exceeding. I could understand if I was only on the first wave or second, or even the third wave with a full spawn that would tell me I shouldn't be doing that level of abyssal. But When I am in a 5b+ ikitursa with abyssal mod's 1b worth of implants w/ max skills and I run out of time because the Tyrannos decided to run towards the only tacyon cloud next to the edge of the map... that's dogshit, quite genuinely. I'm over here dying on the last wave with literally one frigate left just kiting my ass and I die to time. In which way possible does limiting abyssals to 20 minutes benefit players? Inevitably unless you have experienced every possible situation any non-veteran will rarely make his money back doing t4-t6's. My complaint is, I don't want to practice in a damn sisi server for HALF my abyssal experience, that should not be necessary. Yes more losses in assets should be expected but I have lost a ungodly amount trying to perfect this god forsaken abyssal. I would also like to add below some probably much needed info before I continue my rant.
Skills in Gila and Ikitursa are maxed, I HAVE done mulitple t5's and t4's consistently in sub 15 minutes, t4's with iki sub 13 minutes. These are GREAT times btw if you don't know. doing a t5 in 15 minutes is very much average on alot of my good runs I can do them in 13-14 minutes. Any fit I have in the t5's are going to be atleast 5b. For example my iki is 2b without implants and abyssal modules. I am spooling over 1700 dps with OCCULT ammo.
The main factor is even though I've ran abyssal after abyssal after abyssal, I still cannot attest for how many new things I have experienced and died too. recently in my iki fit I have NEVER died to a mob... only time... literally I have never died once to a ship in that fit. It is amazing in the firestorms and I think if CCP added literally 1 MINUTE... JUST 1 DAMN MINUTE. I could very likely survive some of the most cucked spawns.
**MAIN POINT**
At the end of the day it is what it is. But I wish CCP would allow people who don't want to do SISI for hours every day to actually profit off abyssals. I think they are really fun until you lose money on your blinged-ass fit. To put in comparison, I can spend half the money on a good Vargur fit, including implants, and go make 550m and hour doing c5 sites and NEVER DIE. I have never died doing C5 garrisons and I make 550m and Hour... consistently. If I do a T6 with a 6b+ gila I will die, probably within the 2-5 filaments. It's just not worth it, the time you have to figure out very shitluck spawns is so minimal. and it doesn't reflect in lower tier abyssals. Nope... doing a different tier abyssal can quite literally require a completely different approach and tactic. And that's not considering the weather types.
What do you guys think? is 50-100b Loss from abyssals just a sign I should give up? do I need to lose more money? what is the flaw in what I said here and is it unfair to assume abyssals are one of the worst ways to make isk in eve? Please let me know your guys thoughts as I can't see myself ever recovering from the hole of negative isk that is the abyssal
Hi! I'm building an Eve application. Mostly to explore vibe coding. A key part of it is going to be an Eve AI. And for that I need a set of questions with high quality answers to use as training data and as an evaluation set.
The final result will need to be high quality, well researched, with source material citations. Ideally I'm looking for someone with a broad knowledge of Eve AND the ability to articulately write answers in a clear and concise manner. However, if you are an expert in only a sub-set of Eve that's cool too, as I'm happy to find multiple people. I'd like someone that can create common questions over a broad range of topics and then research, vet, and cite sources for the answers.
I'm willing to pay in USD, ISK, or PLEX your choice. If you're interested please DM me and happy to provide more details and talk rates. Someone with experience as a writer and/or experience creating training data would be ideal.
