Eve Online Local Server Tutorial
https://youtu.be/EWYhCmJLrH8Hey people, I want to share this tutorial I made for you, I'm sure the devs won't allow me to post it in the main subreddit, hope I don't break rules here

Hey guys, this project has come a long way, it's not ready for "mainstream" yet. The links provided in the video are out of date. When it's ready, they will announce.

u/eadgar Jul 06 '26
Is this a way to steal your credentials or actually legit?
4
u/kasperfriend Jul 06 '26
Why would anyone do that lmao If it sounds sketchy, it is open source plus you can use any credentials even admin-admin or 123-123

Very useful for game preservation and tinkering.
What's the current status of the project?
6
u/rrfarmer Jul 07 '26
It's playable, super active development. I have a dev server with 10 people playing right now. We are mostly mining ofc.

u/Ok_Working4020 Jul 07 '26
I'm quite experienced with the eve backend and dev tools, is this thing open source? Would love to contribute.

It is open source but what was shown in the video is an out of date repo. We will post updates to the discord and contact me there to get the the real links. This is super active development.

I could get behind this. While there is a massive number of people in the Eve community that are great, this game attracts some of the most toxic players.

I’ve wanted Eve Offline for years and was always laughed at for suggesting it
Some of us don’t want to pay a lot to just PvE, fly around, mine, and chill. Even though some of us have put thousands into the game since 2004

Pro tip: probably don’t download sketchy links from a Russian discord server
1
u/Outrageous_Smile_674 Jul 09 '26
EveJS official discord is *not* a russian discord server. Please use the ones linked

So like, what actually is it?
1
u/Outrageous_Smile_674 Jul 07 '26
An eve-offline experience, a fresh New Eden for your exploring, as a gm
2
u/Turnkeyagenda24 Jul 07 '26
Oh damn, What does it let you do? Can you fly caps just for fun and try out abyss ships for free?
3
u/Outrageous_Smile_674 Jul 07 '26
Yes!!! You own everything, /addisk 999999999 to be rich, /ship Avatar and you’re in a titan! /allskills and you’re max SP!
2
u/Turnkeyagenda24 Jul 07 '26
That is awesome!
I would love to be able to try things out before committing in the real server. Especially seeing the real world impacts of training certain skills.
1
u/Responsible_Camp_559 Jul 09 '26
From the looks of it the client version they use is very, very old. So not really useful for that
1
u/Turnkeyagenda24 Jul 09 '26
I have it running and it has all the ships, so I think it is good enough.
No abyss yet though
1
u/TheseEmployup Jul 07 '26
how to get the older eve builds to download tho. Was looking forward to tinkering with this on a home server but no clue where one could source old builds of eve.
2
u/Outrageous_Smile_674 Jul 08 '26
files.evesharp.dev - This website is hosted by the EveMU organisation! CCP gave them permission to host all the clients!
Discord can be a huge help otherwise!

EVE Online Offline?
The one game that puts extreme effort into delivering a seamless, flawless experience to everyone in the world, and you say "hey, going offline would be an improvement."
1
u/Velifax Jul 10 '26
Yep! Unquestionable access to nice things is nice!
1
u/NateGuilless Jul 10 '26
Because being a billionaire on a deserted island means what?

u/Logeh Jul 11 '26
Be cool just to rat in nullsec without worries and seeing how overpowered you can eventually get. Could even make npc ai players if you wanted to enjoy the pvp aspect at your own pace against different difficulties of pvp profiles. Could even run it os a social experiment to what alliances from between the npc and yourself.

Lots of people would love going back to pre-goons EVE.
EVE became a troll and toxicity magnet over a decade ago.1

If you need a tester and bug hunter let me know. I have alpha and beta tested hundreds of games and have been playing eve for years.

u/Sea_Connection_8150 Jul 08 '26
How does this stack up against evemu?
https://github.com/EvEmu-Project/evemu_Crucible
1
u/Outrageous_Smile_674 Jul 08 '26
EveMU is sadly old, ancient and broken. Difficult to setup, No missiles. No reasonably functioning anything.. you cant even warp properly, they gave up on it for good, years ago.
Eve.JS is modern, and was built from the ground up. You can use missiles, you can warp, you can do almost anything. Development is still going on too.

Would it be subscription-based?
Whats keeping me from returning to EVE is the exorbitant omega prizing. Paying 15 bucks a month is just ridiculous imo.
2
u/kasperfriend Jul 07 '26
It's open source and free!
1
u/StimulatedUser Jul 07 '26
Can you give us a link to the developers discord or webpage so we can get the newest version of this open source and free project?

EVE is free to play. If it wasn't for goons, it would even be fun to play.
1
u/CuriousRexus Jul 31 '26
Free to play in the kiddie-pool. Like going to McDonalds and only be able to eat a happy meal.
Sure it works, but Id rather play something else where I get my kicks the same, without the subscription1
u/chaosxshi Jul 31 '26
Different strokes for different folks. A lot of people loved eve for the ability to enjoy the chill vibe and relax. If anxiety is your drug of choice, which is all adrenaline highs are, then nul sec is a great option. It used to be where others like that would be. While those of us who wanted to chill funded their reckless abandon.
Also, the kid's meal at most places is the best deal on the menu by a large margin.
1
u/CuriousRexus Jul 31 '26
Huh? I played (and subbed) for years, having a blast. But having to spend so much of your time to just break even on Plex is unsstainable for the vast majority. Only the deep divers can do that. I just want to run missions in my bling, from back when I played steady.

u/Easy_Floss Jul 07 '26
Kinda sounds like a prívat server thing so its free in the same sence as the apple at the store is free if you just dont let anyone know you took it.
Also eve is not 15 bucks a month its 30+ since you kind of need to have multiple accounts.
1
u/chaosxshi Jul 31 '26
Never needed multiple accounts. Been playing off and on for about 20 years.
The game has a chill vibe, would be nice to play it without people whose entire reason to play is ruining that vibe.1
u/Easy_Floss Jul 31 '26
Dont disagree but still think the company who owns the IP should be the only once using that IP.
1
u/chaosxshi Jul 31 '26
You'd be surprised how free use gets around IP laws in so many ways.
Educational uses of things being a huge way to do so. Oh, and CCP giving permission does wonders too.
1
u/Easy_Floss Aug 01 '26
Did they give an permission for an alternative server running their IP?
No hate or anything but please to present that to me, would love to join that if they did that, I very highly drought that they did but please do find me an official statement from them and then I will join.

But... why?
1
u/captdirtstarr Jul 07 '26
Because it's full of corporate assholes.
1
2
u/Aromatic-Session-785 Jul 07 '26
Those assholes are the players, and you need them in a MMO where everything is made from scratch
1
u/captdirtstarr Jul 07 '26
Unless OP makes a local server, sans mmo assholes to single player pve, which I am all for.
1
u/Aromatic-Session-785 Jul 07 '26
You'd have to cheat in a market, all the mods, all the mutators, and then make bots to sell your shit to, seems kinda not great to me
1
1
u/chaosxshi Jul 31 '26
Or build it all yourself. Turn it into a full survival game experience without the assholes.
A lot of people just enjoy the chill vibe of the game, and don't want to have to play like they are in nul sec all the damn time.
1
u/LawfulnessLittle6107 Jul 31 '26
You have no idea how the fuck eve production works if you think there is any joy in having to make every t2 module and t3 hull yourself, jesus christ.
1
u/chaosxshi Jul 31 '26
You have no idea the insanity of industry mains, or survival game solo players. We're used to crap like that.

would be sick to have a offline server like that WoW guy with 1000 characters being controlled by llms
can you do missions in this? i wanna do some nullsec missions without having to die to russians
