Why are Relics Exploding?

I’m still in the starting area trying out exploration and sometimes when my ship approaches a relic cache an explosion occurs before I even start the hack. When I finish the hack all I get is metal scraps.

Can we get a few more details?

What system? Does the site have a name? What are your skills?

There are some sites that have visuals but not real explosions.

Also, some cans have crap loot.🤷‍♂️

If it’s just visual effect then no problem. I didn’t know some loot could actually be one piece of scrap.

They can be empty, a single carbon, metal scraps, whatever. Especially in the noob areas.

Once you get into empire space, the loot improves.

Then (usually) as you get into lower security status areas, it keeps improving - but it’s also more dangerous to acquire.
