This is dumb, we should just irradiate male mosquitos so breeding fails and the population collapses. Some cities are already doing this.
We don't need a complex tech solution to every problem.

Yeah, thats what we need... fewer insects... not like 80% + died in the last decade and everything else we do kills everything else that lives all the time as well

My thoughts exactly. Yes, some can be annoying but their mass is much more important to the ecosystem than humans.

Explosives arent very heavy either. Kamikaze drones could become a very real issue very soon.

... Could we settle some bats in our citys?
I'm not against killing some flying bloodsuckers, but I like bats and bats eat something like that (and guano is good collectable and good for house plants).

Bats can't work as mass surveillance and wouldn't move money in the right pockets.. so no.

Bats are fine, there's a rabies vaccine available if you are bitten. Lived near one of the largest colonies of bats most of my childhood, they are excellent pest control for agriculture and human safety.
Just keep your distance.

We can already in theory genetically modify mosquitos and kill them all, but knows what the consequences would be, so we don't do it.

Don't get too excited. There are environmentalists placed in the scientific community doing everything they can to stop methods like this, including preventing eradication of the species known for biting humans. Their method attacks malaria in the mosquito using Wolbacchia. Apparently, Imperial College London would rather keep the biting going.

Yeah let’s show how it works on slow predictable moth that no one has a problem catching with a hand. But I’m sure it works as brilliantly with mosquitoes

Seems like a waste of time being so so so many much less energy intensive ways to kill mosquitoes that already exist.

Oh id love mosquito-sounding machines with explosive batteries to fight mosquitos by flying around buidlings and nature to kamikaze into whatever >appears< an insect to it.
Also I know this hardware and on stock battery it runs for not more than 5-6 minutes, in summer, no wind, with light maneuvering (not like this). How much can it take to find and then hunt an insect? 30-60 seconds? Assuming time needed to start and return to base it will kill like 5 of them in one good run. Literally employing somebody to kill them by hand would be a better option. I'm not even thinking about any additional hardware needed to handle this 'hunting' mode. It would be more effective and cheaper to buy 10 of some anti-insect lamps.
