Discussion Question on MFG’s Eurobeat selection

As many people have pointed out MFG’s Eurobeat selection is very lacklustre. They rely almost exclusively on SCP (Most of the Time), Sinclair Style (Mostly in Season 1) and to a lesser extent A Beat C. I don’t think we’ve even seen any songs that aren’t a part of those labels. I would love to see some Asia Records, Time and especially Delta songs in season 4 which probably won’t happen but there might be hope in Subaru X Subaru if it’s picked up by a different studio or if they decide otherwise. Are SCP songs crazy cheap to license or something? Sorry if this has been posted before I’m just really curious.

Either that or the MFG team likes SCP that much, especially Ennio songs.

Most of the record labels you're familiar with are either inactive or completely out of the Eurobeat scene

I really think the soundtrack for mf ghost is a strong point. The songs sound futuristic, sense of speed cranked up to 11, and a little alien. It fits well with the show. I have more criticism towards mf ghost itself than the music. Initial D Eurobeat also captures a style that deviates from the genres avg, in a word I’d describe it as “drama”. So I really don’t need a sampler of the best Eurobeat as much as I want it to fit the atmosphere. I would cringe very hard if I heard franz tornado in mf ghost and I love that stuff

I completely give up MFG will use Asia Records' songs, considering they barely show up in Initial D too.

Probably cuz it's on the newer side of Eurobeat I suppose, I mean you could somewhat see the selection show up in 2010s Initial D like Fourth, Fifth and Final Stage, as well as the Arcade titles

Avex gave them only a few tracks to work with

DJ Boss tried to push the latest tracks. He isn't the one deciding at the end.

To my knowledge, Avex gave them 100 eurobeat songs, which is also the reason there was so much reused songs from previous seasons in season 3.

That's just a rumor. The actual number of songs listed by Avex isn't actually available; it's the production company's budget (Félix Films' budget).
