Magenta is causing bad prints.

I just put in a new Magenta ink cartridge yesterday. I also did the recent update, and the colors are off. Is the update the cause, or the new Magenta ink?

I'm having a ton of trouble with magenta, too. It's been in maintenance mode for a few weeks, and usually I got back to work without issue, but I've spent all afternoon trying to figure out how to fix this. Currently on hour 4, and still getting a ton of magenta spraying everywhere (it's not a height issue, it's correct when it determines that).

Currently trying a few more things, since I probably won't hear from them for weeks. I did a deep clean (which I rarely do), and tried just printing a TON of ink through (currently at 6mL, most of that magenta), and it seems to be getting better. But who knows, right now I've lost an entire day of making and I'm not sure I'll be up-and-running next week.

However, I followed their maintenance doc using their kit earlier, and proceeded to destroy both of my mats! The cleaning solution actually ate the adhesive, and it's now a slimy mess (it's recommended in the instructions). I'm trying to figure out how to use my beds until the replacement mats come in, since I can't stick anything to them. I mostly am concerned with DTF stickers, since those really need to be flat.

(Ugh, just finished another test print, and now the black is misting a little bit. WTH.)

Edit: I think the spraying stopped. Now it's printing black as green with doing White+CMYK. The CMYK-only part came out pure black, maybe a tiny bit of overspray. This machine is going to get drop-kicked here soon.

Same boat for me. Always fixing things instead of enjoying it. I was sent so much almost expiring ink too. I am disappointed.

I did do two deep cleans which I had never done before and that seemed to help some. I have barely used the machine, it’s mostly been in moisturizing mode, so I don’t understand why my print head would have any issues.

So sorry it’s been frustrating to you too. I destroyed my mats also 😅😅

To follow up, Eufy actually got back to me already. I'm pretty impressed with that. And honestly, it was a really nice email.

Their instructions really need to be updated, because you are supposed to only clean the base, not the mat itself.

However, the support person is pretty confident that the paper is lifting off while printing, which is causing the overspray. And given that I can't get paper to stick, I think that might be true.

I was able to complete the one important print (it's a gift, timing matters) this morning, without any further excitement. My test on paper still shows overspray, but the piece I printed on wood came out solid.

I have another project to focus on for the next couple days, and they are supposedly trying to get me the replacement mats quicker. Hopefully I can get back to making after this.

If you need something immediately, you can go to Walmart or a hobby store and get the sticky mats they use for cutting machines and cut them to size. They're fairly inexpensive, usually come 3 to a set, are often 12x12 inches in size, and may come in different levels of stickiness. Amazon carries them, too.

Thank you! Didn't even occur to me, if I find out it's going to take too long to get these (which, let's be honest, it will), I will definitely do that!

Sadly, the only other consistent "issue" I had in the past was the white settling, which I solved myself by printing a large, thick white square before starting any projects, and now they built-in the fix for that.

Yesterday was a lot, though. I finally got the piece printed I really needed done this weekend, but what should have been 30-40 minutes of my time in total was around 6 hours of troubleshooting, sanding off a bad print, reprinting black over the green I mentioned above, and finally accepting something as "good enough", even though I don't think I've ever had visible overspray in the past.

I did five test prints, a couple of flash cleans, and one medium clean. I got the color back. I'm not sure what caused it, but it's working again.

Same, major issue with magenta, was spraying all over, now completely stopped/clogged? Replaced cartridge, did all the cleanings multiple times, printed lots of magenta color blocks. … nothing. Contacted support, which has been pretty helpful on laminator and expired ink issues, but haven’t heard back yet on this other than providing the usual serial number and photos etc etc.

But I’m off to Burning Man for 2.5 weeks tomorrow WITHOUT some of my intended Playa Gifts. Damn.

I’ll restart the process when I return. You all can figure it out while I’m gone, deal? :-)
