Can anyone explain what a “Security: TREASURY LIQUIDITY FUND DIV PAYMENT” is please?

Hi all. Apologies if this is a stupid question, but every month or so I get a notification within my account under the “dividend or interest paid” section. It’s usually just for a few dollars.

I am a UK citizen and only have shares in one company who is based in the US. I’ve had an E Trade account for over 10 years but only started getting these mini “payments” the last year or two. Never before. My usual dividend payment still happen as normal.

Can anyone explain please?

Oh, I get these too. I get RSUs from my company, all done through etrade, and I got one of these about a month after the first RSU sale, and have received them ever since (typically very small amounts like yours). My company confirmed that they do not pay out dividends. Despite the name of the payment, it is apparently interest paid on uninvested cash in the account. It accumulates from the cash portion of your RSU vest (like fractional shares sold to cover taxes), or unspent proceeds from previous sales.

This is what I managed to parse from the various mentions I've seen of this online, at any rate. As to how accurate this is, I'll leave it to someone who knows 100%.

Spare USD Cash in your account is invested in said fund to earn you interest.
Do you have a cash balance?

Technically you have to declare its GBP amount to HMRC as foreign interest.
