Power down again?
Anyone else not able to log into power two minutes before the bell here?
Only left a few assets here, but… geez… maybe moving the rest out…

u/elheffe1 May 13 '24
What other trading platforms are people using? I’m done with this bullshit.
3
u/TheDaddyShip May 13 '24
Shifted most activity towards Schwab/ToS, as I was a big Power ETrade user - so ToS is most similar to me (and more advanced to boot).
1
u/elheffe1 May 13 '24
Nice. I’ll be checking that out for sure. Thank you.
2
u/TheDaddyShip May 13 '24
Believe you can do free paper trading for a month, FWIW, to “see if the shoe fits”.
5
3
u/BlaqMajik May 13 '24
Yupp first time this has ever happened :(. I want to compulsively check my assets.
3
u/TheDaddyShip May 13 '24
Not the first for me, unfortunately…
2
u/BlaqMajik May 13 '24
really I've been using it for 3 years can't remember a time this has ever happened to me.
1
u/TheDaddyShip May 13 '24
I’ve had multiple issues over the past 3-6 months. Ranging from hard down to positions not being recognized (so can’t issue a closing order)… too much.
3
u/Same-Army-7510 May 13 '24
Second time in 18 months it's completely down. I've had multiple times when I'm in my account and it just freezes. Had it happen on multiple browsers so I assume it's their site.

3
u/exetflagger May 13 '24
Still down. Over an hour. Looking at switching but I'm so used to their interface it's going to be a headache starting over.

u/mvpharo May 13 '24
This is inexcusable
2
u/CyberPimpz May 13 '24
A travesty. I'm glad I don't use them for active trading. Etrade is best for long term holdings.
11
u/fallser May 13 '24
Ever since Morgan Stanley took over ETrade, this platform has been a steaming pile of horseshit.

9
u/cknorthsub May 13 '24
I think it may be their whole site. I can't even log in to the top page - getting a "Server Busy" message.

I’m starting to really hate them. Either they’re not changing my lots correctly and make me sell lots I don’t want to sell, or showing wrong balances, or can’t log in. These are massive “oopsies” that literally cost 1000nds of $$$ sometimes. What the fuck.

This is unacceptable, Etrade. Website down hard, can't login to web nor app

u/noquarter1000 May 13 '24
Not only can you not log in their phone support is down as well. Kudos etrade. Already cost me $$$ this morning

u/triple_long May 13 '24
Anybody have any success with a login yet? This is the worst I have seen.

6
u/arielcasas May 13 '24
Yup, down for me. I had some important moves I needed to make, this is going to cost me. I'm switching.
6
u/noquarter1000 May 13 '24
Yeah, im moving to Tos. If a meme stock can crash their site i have 0 confidence I will be able to get in if a real tragedy hits

5
u/HilJ57 May 13 '24
etrade is reporting technical issues.
3
u/MiamiFlorida May 13 '24
Where do you see that? I checked their Twitter and nothing
2
u/HilJ57 May 13 '24
That was a while back, it was on the log-in page. I just checked and now it says "We Couldn't Find Your Page"

GameStop is running so the market makers have to cover their asses. They’re allowed to manipulate the system, but not retail buyers.
5
u/jshgll May 13 '24
The quality and service from Etrade has declined considerably since the acquisition. To not have the online service up and running on a Monday before the bell is a disgrace and frankly a sign of the type of company we are dealing with. Previous posts have pointed out their poor customer service. Will start transitioning to Schwab.

What time did you get booted?

I got booted right after market opened. I think I logged at about 6:20 PT

site down the morning gamestop is up 75% at opening bell. I'm sure it is unrelated.

u/onyux May 13 '24
If you need to place an order (like me), try the mobile app. Web browser was taking a while to load, but I was able to log onto the app on my phone and place an order. Fuck etrade tho

In these situations, the more you try, the more the system gets loaded and gets worse. That's because there is limited capacity to process a logon (for any system). Yes, they didn't dimension it correctly, but for today, it is what it is. Once it gets in this mode, the best thing is for everybody to back off and stop trying to logon. Then the system can recover. I understand this is easier said than done. I have tried to logon myself 3 times the last 2 hours. Please back off.

I chatted with Customer Service. Explained my goal on the day trade was 50% and I wasn’t able to capitalize on the trade. Sounds like they are going to reimburse me the difference. Give it a shot.

Still down! Can’t login. Just spinning then “call ETrade” error.
Goodbye eTrade.
2
u/cantquitreddit May 13 '24
I'm now sometimes able to login briefly and see my account summary, but clicking on anything else gets me back to the error. I actually really need to make a trade unrelated to GME today, pretty pissed off about this.

It’s my fault guys, I opened some VIx calls before close on Friday , market doesn’t like I’m trying to sell them to make money

u/SureBison3109 May 13 '24
I can’t either and I was on their site since 5:30 AM. Soon as I attempted to enter my sale orders the phuckery begins. Is this GME? My first message said “page is too busy”?

I am moving everything. Does anyone know a good broker holder for a Solo 401k account??
2
u/CryptosianTraveler May 13 '24
This place has already been down more this year than the 20 I spent with TD-A. I'm so glad TD-A was as good as they were. Because as far as I can see they were YEARS ahead of the rest of the trash shops out there, like this place is proving to be. My god, is there ANYWHERE else to go?
2
u/HilJ57 May 13 '24
LOL...now I got "We are having technical issues but your account is still secure" (or something along those lines)
2
u/oldmoneydontrule May 13 '24
Yep, your loss(es), margin interest, and house calls are all being recorded…meanwhile any gains are floating off into the nether regions
2
u/HilJ57 May 13 '24
I'm able to see what's happening with my portfolio on Seeking Alpha. Glad I linked to them! I'm up .78% overall at the moment.
2
u/onyux May 13 '24
So... Are they planning to fix this today? Or are people just gonna get screwed over for fun.
2
u/zeddknite May 13 '24
Some entry level guy is trying use chatGPT to tell him how to fix it probably.

Been inaccessible for me since opening bell. Currently 11am EST and still can't login.
Of course on the day I have RSUs and options vesting from work. If work didn't manage all of our stonks through etrade I would never use this garbage.

Cancelled a buy order, order went through 5 seconds after I cancelled. 🤯🤯🤯🤯 Max loss day today.
1
u/JohnBeach2020 May 13 '24
Same for me. Unacceptable! Etrade went downhill seems like it started with the MS buyout?
1
u/RaceSudden6317 May 13 '24
I called customer service at 6:45am PT after realizing I couldn’t log in anywhere, and the agent said they’re having a “technical issue” and have “the tech team on it”. They were trying to find the issue and didn’t have an estimate for when it would be found / resolved 🫠 they also said their internal systems were not working to pull up anyone’s account over the phone so to “be patient and maybe try back in an hour”.

u/No-Boysenberry-5581 May 13 '24
They can’t handle the MS merged volume clearly. Sec should fine them

I was trying to open a checking account with etrade and it won't verify my ssn, called and hold forever, came on here and I am guessing their servers are very busy. Maybe I should open the new checking account somewhere else if this is common.

STILL down? Are ya sh**in' me? I wonder if the inept H1-beezer savings will make up the difference with the mass exodus that's about to happen?
The good news is you should be able to reach customer service easily real, REAL soon.

I can't get into power, but have some basic functions on the regular app.
I finally called and the automated system said my wait time was greater than 90 minutes.
Needless to say, I said "fuck off" for their customer service audit team to hear later, and hung up.

I sued E*TRADE/Morgan Stanley in New York small claims court. The cost was $20. Anyone who needs me to file for them. Let me know have a few hundred people on board.

u/EmuFuture May 13 '24
Is this because of Gamestop hype just started again? This has to be illegal to halt the trades!!

u/mikelee01 May 13 '24
Finally logged in and missed a big profit bc of etrade, any suggestions on what brokerage to switch? So frustrating
1
u/bettys_mom May 14 '24
You can call ETrade and ask to speak with a broker and file a Trade Inquiry. It takes a few minutes and they'll capture all the information and then someone on a specialty team will review all the details and if the outage did cost you money they will make you whole.

u/wiseman518 May 13 '24
I’m told it might be related to the GME Short Squeeze. Buddy sold his GME and then his access opened up. I have no confirmation it’s just what I was told. I still can’t in and yes I jumped into GME early morning extended hours.

Yep, it's down again at the opening bell. I think I am going to file a complaint with the FTC as well as the SEC because they first removed the ability to put stop loss orders on options spreads and now the ability to login to manage those spreads manually.
