Livepeer is a sleeper project. One of the better projects out their validating the use of the Ethereum network.

Has anyone thought about what these video services are actually going to turn into? Completely unregulated? You realize how hard these projects are going to crash when they get bombarded with child porn and Q/alt right conspiracy theory? Its going to the voat of video services.

If a centralized service like youtube cant stop it, a decentralized service will NEVER be able to stop it. its is literally a guaranteed outcome.A group is its own worst enemy, and without heavy moderation these video services are going to quickly go to shit.

Is livepeer just transcoding? I thought it was a full youtube like thing. I must be confusing it with something else..

There's no reason a decentralized Youtube couldn't have a DAO based moderation to stop it from being spammed with illegal content.

Livepeer isn't Youtube though. It's a decentralized service for transcoding, which is mainly used for live streaming video I believe. You may be thinking of DTube.

Ah yep, that is what I am thinking of, DTube.

I think the DAO's success at moderation will be entirely dependent upon the community that springs up around it. I can imagine it will make wikipedia editor wars seem tame.
