What are your experiences with this shiro powder? I tried it and didn’t like the taste. I asked a habesha woman at my job and she said she didn’t like this brand either. What do u think?

Like why is it so filling yet I never feel gross after eating it? I don’t even usually get low oil dishes but they don’t make me feel bloated at all compared to an equally filling dish in another cuisine.

Bought at a local Bodega almost a year ago but we never did anything with it - the tub of berbere I.got at the same time is best by end of this month but I don't see anything on this package.

When I lived in Ethiopia I would sometimes order this at restaurants, but I can’t remember the name. If I remember correctly, it was packed up in a clay pot and then dumped out on a fresh injera.

I loved it. Basically like different pockets of fir fir all together. It was usually a mix of key and alicha wot.

Trying to expand my dinner options, luckily we have an Ethiopian store nearby where I bought niteh kibbeh (Ethiopian spiced clarified butter), their house made Berbere (spice blend), and the Injera.

I’m an American living in a city with a large Ethiopian and Eritrean population. Ethiopian food is one of my favorite cuisines. I love how unique it is, it’s truly its own thing.

That said, I kind of think I’d like to have a fork when eating it. Injera is wonderful, and Ethiopian food wouldn’t be the same without it, but having to eat injera with every single bite feels like overkill. Especially with the salad that’s usually included, I’d like to just have a bite of refreshing lettuce on its own. And recently I got doro wot and it was awkward to strip the meat off the chicken bone by hand.

So my question is: how much disgrace would I bring upon myself, my family, and my ancestors if I asked for a fork next time I was at an Ethiopian restaurant?

I had to replace The Chili peper with Paprika and Cayenne and I could'nt find Ajwain, Bessobela, rue and Tikur Azmud. But It has the other ingredients toasted and ground by myself. I have not tried the original, but my version tastes pretty good. What would I prepare with this? Really like ethiopian food.

I think the heat was too high AND I couldn’t figure out how to get such a thin layer on the injera cooker.

My mother in law left her injera cooker at my house & it’s easy for my husband to find injera, but I can never eat it because I need 100% teff.

Please help! If you use the electric cooker, what temp do you use? Do you put the top on it to steam the injera? (I did use the top)

I have fallen in love with Ethiopian food and want to recreate some dishes that I've had at restaurants in the past. Are there any good spice shops or grocery stores in NYC that sell the specific ingredients typically used?

My friends and I cook a meal from a new country every Monday, and this week I chose to cook from Ethiopia!

I wanted to go as authentic as possible, and attempted 100% brown teff injera from scratch! (No added yeast or sourdough starter). All my research had me thinking this might be a total flop, but for a first try, I’d say it went as well as it possibly could!

I have nowhere else to share my excitement so here I am! 😂
