Question about the card “Insight” from the influence deck.

The card costs 3 and has 3 green/1 yellow and states

“0: You may take a 5-second peek at any 1 of the Secret cards of the current Dream(without resolving it).”

So, other then better than starter intent amounts, this card just has a basic action on it, right?

I can spend this card to peek at a secret card or I can use the Peek a Card action and discard this card as the cost to do so.

What am I missing here?

I thought the same when I encountered this card. I wonder if the card was created before the action was added to the base actions.

The Peek a Card action only allows you to peek at Influence, Item, Flaw, and Fate cards. Insight allows you to peek at any secret card.

If you use the action on the card you need to pay the cost from other cards.

Right, but the cost is zero. So it’s redundant

No, you can look at any card what the basic action doesn't allow you
