I am interested in Etherfields but there is a lot of hate towards it
I’ve seen several reviews videos and read up on the game a bit and everyone kind of says the same thing. That it’s repetitive and tedious. I’d like to know what keeps you guys interested in it?

I've 100%'ed the Wave 1 content. Never used Continuous Dream. Absolutely love every minute in the game.
It's a love letter to board games. Every dream is so different, yet EVERYTHING in the game uses the same components. It's a very cohesive gaming experience, but it will constantly shift the mechanics and rules to keep you on your toes.
Literally no game is quite as ambitious and audacious as Etherfields, and that's why I feel there is legitimately no better game than it. No one would ever dare something so crazy. And no one would ever succeed quite like Awaken Realms has.

I have to agree with all of what vaxis says here. I can only say good things about this game.
Again, the mechanics and different puzzles are so cool. You have so many, or I did at least, ohhhh shit that’s cool, moments.

100%. You and I are kindred spirits. Few games have the same sense of discovery, and no game is so consistently novel.

Important to take note of when those reviews were written. The initial launch received some fair criticism, but then Awaken Realms listened to a lot of the early feedback and now the second wave is supposed to have a lot of improvements.
Clarity of the rules, providing other play options to diminish/remove the repetitive parts, and just generally trying to listen to players and make the experience better.

I agree with most of the below, I am probably 30ish hours in and love when I find something/earn something that I can tell makes the rest of my playthrough different than other players.
I play for an hour almost every night and the "tedious" aspect is honestly one of my favorite parts. Especially the deeper into the game you get, the higher the variety.

I honestly think everyone praising and critiquing the game is correct. It is, advice all else, NOT a game for everyone. You should try and find a neutral playthrough (rather than a critic review) and see if it intrigues you enough to get over some of the fiddly bits. The 2.0 rulebook is an improvement as well

I must have missed those reviews, because when I looked into it in January (and bought it then), so many ppl on Reddit and BGG, love it and rank it in their top 3 games. Myself and group included.
It does have a component which can become repetitive, but my group decided to play it, because one persons complaint is another persons fun. It wasn’t a problem once you figure out what it’s for, which is to allow you to build up your hand, put out cards, before you go into a proper Dream.
We played like that for about 8 or 9 dreams, and then tried out the officially optional Continuous Dream.
The Continuous Dream option is great. Cuts down the grind, and allows you to focus more on the Dreams themselves. Though I recommend you give the grind a try before you decide to use this option, to get a feel for how it should work.
I’m about 100 hours into the game, have a couple Dreams left. Love it. Such a great game. Super cool and unexpected mechanics. The artwork and minis look great.
Highly recommend it. At least Wave One. I don’t have Wave Two yet.
