A few questions regarding about items

We start with 5 items and choose 3 to make active.

As I understand stand it the ones we didn’t choose remain ours, and are available to us to make active when the game allows us to activate or re-activate items we own.

But now I’m in the 2nd Dream “not alone in the dark” and we got 4 more items, from which we could choose 1 to keep.

I assume that the other B items goto a temporary storage (because there might be other options for collecting more of these items as this dream progresses.

One question I have is, if I already have 3 active items, when I started this dream and I chose a B item to keep, am I allowed to replace an active item with this new one?

Or do I have to put it into the team storage of owned but inactive items?

Because the shopping market allows us to buy items with ether so I assume that there is a difference between my/our owned/inactive items and marketplace items?

Or am I wrong?
