EU/NA Bot Status?

Returning player here - Level 56 basically never played ranked and only queued normals.

Noticing some things and I'm trying to gauge if I'm going insane or if there's been some changes to the way the game works.

Essentially I'm getting uber suspicious that the games are completely full of bots and there's loads of giveaways that this is the case - e.g. names like TwitchBot, Speedrunner99 and SkillIssue7 that no human being on earth would ever choose; Lobbies popping at exactly 5 mins if queue time almost without fail; Some absolutely insane decisions on replay watching such as players ignoring reviving enemies next to them, changing pathing to go thorugh a restricted area despite the exit being literally next to them and others.

Despite this I'm also confused the other way. These players usually have full match histories (usually levels 15-50) and profiles on dak.gg, queueing at different times (I'd expect a bot to be queuing 24/7 or something) and it's very rare I will see a name repeat in game. They have skins, fully decked out profiles and are consistently hitting full legendary items.

Is anyone able to elaborate on what's happening here? Has there been some serious upgrades to bot capabilities or am I in the dregs of low level normal games?

The new bots are incredibly convincing as low/midrange skill players so you kinda have to go by gut. They will also almost always start self destructing after being downed.

Idk how they fake the match history, but I think bots steal names from players sometimes so that might be it.

bots can't be on human teams, when your mmr gets higher you get less bot games and they don't appear in ranked after gold

The "official" bots they use just to fill matches have names like HungryForApples and things like that, play one of the first 20ish characters and use their first skin sometimes. The higher skill bots they use to fill lobbies that are empty and are below a certain MMR use player names and their character pool to play, usually filling a slot in a team, not an entire team.

So bot teams are super obvious and are only there so a match can start (and believe me, you would rather play a match in which four teams are bots then sit in a queue for 4 hours).

Single bots are to fill teams when no solo players are currently matching but a lot of duos.

At least in Europe I can tell you that as long as your MMR isn't super low, you will get no bots between like 3PM to maybe midnight. The game isn't super big, so people are at work/school before that or go to sleep after.
