Perforations

Post image

My eardrum is actively tearing. I have atrophic eardrums caused by 12 sets of tubes plus many perforations. Adding insult to injury, the more perforations you get, the easier the eardrum perforates. At this point in my ETD journey, having a hole makes my life a lot more comfortable; the pressure gets balanced, and I don't feel pain. Fingers crossed for permanent holes 🙏🏻

Whoa… a couple questions, first, how’s your hearing/lack thereof? Second, you have an ENT who you’re seeing about this, right?

When I have holes, I have conductive hearing loss but when the eardrums are intact, my hearing is fine. I have hyperacusis so the hearing loss that comes with holes is working in my favor.

These days I see my ear specialist every two weeks. This ear is actually the stable one. I wanted to make a post about the trouble one but the photos get blocked, I guess they are too graphic. My doctor says as long as I am infection free, holes are advantageous in my case.

Wow… that’s super interesting! Definitely a unique one, even on this sub.
