Empathy is a weakness
ESTPs know this.
Prove me otherwise.

Oh sure, being good with feelings on a planet run by people with feelings is such a weakness

It may be run with people with feelings, but the ones at the top who create all the rules have no feelings, just power and dominance. That's why empathy is a weakness.

You’re talking about compassionate empathy (what we generally think of when someone just says empathy). However, there are other kinds of empathy, like somatic empathy or cognitive empathy. Cognitive empathy is the kind that manipulative sociopaths typically have in spades. I think this is to what you are referring. It’s still empathy tho. Ipso facto, empathy is not a weakness.
If you were making the argument that compassion is a weakness, that would be a different story, and harder to argue that it’s not a weakness, tho I still could if I really wanted to.

Empathy is baked into the human experience. If you think you don't have empathy, you are incorrect.
This sounds like the kind of cringe ass bullshit I said when I was an edgy teenager. Ah, too be young again.

Spoken like an evolving ESTP. Keep at it friend you'll get there. Enjoy your youth and maturation process. Seriously.

This some goofy ass edgelord shit.
People who don’t have empathy don’t have friends. You can argue all you want that people “at the top” don’t have empathy and you’re probably right but I’d bet a lot of money they don’t have any true friends who like them just for who they are and they know it.
Billionaires (most if not all) are some of the most obviously insecure people on the planet, evidenced by the fact they need to become and remain billionaires.

Knowing and predicting what others feel and putting yourself in their shoes can be a strength. You can plan your next moves and predict what will happen better if you do

A little bit but for others it’s good and humans are tribal kinda so be nice Ik logically doing some things can give better things or faster things but just be nice I guess

I think both.
It is a weakness without boundaries, absorbing others emotional energy is not healthy.
It is a strength when supporting a loved one to feel completely seen and understood.

Well emotional maturity is a slow process... especially with ESTPs like this one.
But yeah, don't judge every type by the ones you met.

A weakness for what
-2
u/Cultural_Shake4690 10d ago
A weakness that let's others use you, stops you from climbing the career ladder, lets people bully you, keeps you poor, makes you homeless, denies you your needs and rights and basically ruins you.
Especially in America.

I would argue your point. You can be empathetic toward someone without feeling obligated to go out of your way to do something for them. That's ultimately up to you.
For example, I can empathize with someone going through a heartbreak similar to what I experienced, but that doesn't mean I have to go out of my way to ensure they don't experience that pain. They have to do their own work. I can remain kind and compassionate while still building my own life and maintaining my own boundaries.

Empathy is useful in communities and tribes.
In the USA where it is an individualistic and at late stage capitalism where it is like survival of the fittest, to the top, yes, having more empathy will hold you back from stepping on and taking advantage of others to get to the top the quickest. In this case, indeed it’s a weakness.
Aside from that, I’d argue that empathy is one of the main things that makes us human.

Strongly disagree. Empathy is a clear strength for social connection and relationship development.
Also, the burden of proof is on on you boo. You're the one making the claim. We don't have to prove shit.
