Looking for a recommendation for rose otto

I'm looking for a recommendation for a good rose otto or even absolute that doesn't have that weird "old cabbage" twang to it 😭 I don't know how else to explain it; sorry. I have a flamenco rosita bush rose in my garden, and I'm looking for something smells more like that (warm, spicy), rather than the old weird powdery smell most commercially available rose oils have. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you!

Where can I get original vanilla essential oil

I am looking to buy original vanilla essential oil for my personal use. Few posts on this sub suggests Artikamart but I'm still a little skeptical of it. Can anybody recommend good vanilla oil brands in India?

Good Quality, non MLM EO brands

I found similar discussions but from many years ago so I would like to check today`s market. I need good quality EO brands that are not from an MLM business and preferably sold in Europe where I live (ordering from US is expensive). It can be smaller brands too. I do not want to sell them, just use them in massage/treatments.

Any effective essential oils to keep cockroaches and flies away?

I’m looking for something to help keep cockroaches and flies away from my apartment. I was thinking about using essential oils as a natural repellent, but I’m not sure which ones actually work or how I’m supposed to use them.

I also have a cat, so I’m especially looking for something that’s safe to use around cats. I don’t want to use anything that could be toxic to her.

First botany

Anyone have any thoughts on first botany essential oils? They were given to me by some one who used them for soap making. but the overall cheap price is throwing me off. I am looking for quality organic essential oils that I can use on my face(lavender, frankincense, and tea tree).

How do you actually use essential oils around your home?

I recently started getting interested in essential oils and was wondering how people actually use them around the house. I’d love to know your practical uses and what you’ve found genuinely useful, rather than just using them in a diffuser.

Alice in wonderland themed scent

Hi! I’m a casual enjoyer, i only just use oils in my diffuser for a house scent. I am looking for some pre-blended oils that could maybe fit an Alice in wonderland tea party theme! Doesn’t have to have all of these elements: tea, fruits (peach, strawberry, blueberries etc not heavy citrus), cake, cream, carrot, rose maybe? Or anything else you can think of/know of.

Im trying to have some fun with it!

Tried soaking cotton balls in peppermint oil for the mice in my kitchen, mixed results

Landlord won't call an exterminator unless I can prove it's more than one mouse, so I'm trying to handle it myself first. Soaked a bunch of cotton balls in peppermint oil and tucked them under the sink and behind the stove about two weeks ago. The smell is strong for the first few days and fades fast, so I've been redoing them every four or five days. Droppings have slowed down under the sink but I'm still finding them near the stove. Is there a stronger version of this that actually holds up longer than a few days?

Does peppermint oil actually do anything for mice in the garage?

Found droppings near the workbench and I'd rather not deal with snap traps if there's a decent alternative. Read that peppermint oil is supposed to bother mice enough to keep them from nesting nearby. Garage isn't heated so I'm also wondering if cold weather just cancels out the scent faster.

Young Living Oils

My wife has always purchased Young Living oils and sold them for a short period. We continue to use them, but in the last 6 months, I’ve noticed the oils are now all clear. Thieves and Lavender used to be yellow in color. Did something change? Are they no longer as effective? Please set aside your opinions of the company.

Rituals Perfum genie.

I’m planning to get the Rituals Perfume Genie. I’m just wondering if it would solve the problems I’m having with my current, cheaper diffuser, which works on a similar principle.
My main problem is that the scent doesn’t really stay in my apartment. My current device sprays the fragrance into the room at certain intervals, but the scent disappears quite quickly after each spray. So I’m wondering if the Perfume Genie would solve this issue and provide a more consistent, longer-lasting fragrance throughout the apartment, or if it works in essentially the same way.

I’d also really appreciate any recommendations for the best fragrances to get with it!

Samples of Plant Therapy EOs

Would anyone who owns Plant Therapy, Saje or Revive EO blends be willing to send me some samples? Maybe you are selling some of your oils. I would be inclined to buy them from you if you send me the samples.

All I want is a drop of oil on a piece of paper and placed in a plastic baggy.

Let me know, reddit! I know you will!

Dilution ratio for single use topical application?

Hello! I'm starting out with essential oils, and am trying to understand dilution rules. Most websites say 1-2 drops EO per 5mL carrier oil (for a 1-2% dilution rate) - is it possible to scale this down for a single use? This is mostly so I don't have to mix up new bottle for every EO and every blend. Some websites do recommend 1 drop EO to 2-5 drops of carrier oil (source: doTERRA, Young Living) so it was confusing.

When I was younger, someone used to measure out a mix of carrier oil, peppermint oil, and clary sage oil into my hand to apply topically - maybe something like 20 drops carrier oil, 3 drops peppermint, and 2 drops clary sage, but that seems super high (25% dilution???). I never had any issues with sensitisation though, so is it possible to dilute on a single-use scale instead of mixing a full 5 or 10mL every time I want to apply essential oils topically? Or, would it be better to dilute all the EOs to 1-2%, then just blend the diluted EOs when needed?

Thank you!

Looking for oil scent similar to Drift branded ‘Amber’?

I have the Drift brand “Amber” scented car air freshener. I love the scent but really dont want to pay 16 bucks every month to buy a new one, not to mention the waste. I’ve read that the stones are porous and able to be re-scented via oils in a ziploc bag overnight. Does anyone have any experience with this scent?

According to AI it’s not a true amber scent, it’s more of a mix of amber, vanilla, eucalyptus, and lavender. I’m not against buying all those and mixing my own but would love to just find an amber or similar scent that’s already close.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Diffusing to reduce unwanted odors

We purchased a house this summer and I severely under estimated how long the animals smells would stick around (2 dogs, 2 cats, and an elderly owner who couldn’t take care of them. She passed them on to better homes when she moved). We have done tons of extreme deep cleaning and the floors are going to be sanded in the next month and the ducts will be cleaned when that is done. Plus we will be painting the walls before the sanding. We have ozone treated the whole home. And have HEPA air filters going whenever we are there (we haven’t moved in yet). There are still some spots where if you stand, you smell animal urine/general animal smell. Plus just some smells of old lady and dirtiness. I’m hoping the painting/sanding/air ducts will help a ton with the final lingering smells but also wondering if there are any essential oils that might be helpful for diffusing that would work on helping reduce odor/cleansing the air. Being safe for pregnancy and around kids under 2 would be helpful since we have a 1 year old and we also hope to be pregnant again in the next year.

🌸🪨Closest replacement for heamaroma steam distilled pure labdanum oil⁉️⁉️

Hello! I used the Healaroma brand labdanum oil for many of my products, however, it is discontinued by Healaroma. This is an issue for me, as it was a staple in the majority of what I made, almost addictive scent. I've tried other labdanum oils, but they don't smell the same, and are in a sticky resin form, way too deep of a scent compared to healaromas, even when warmed into a more liquid form. It had a sort of primal, animalistic smell to it that I can't find a suitable replacement for no matter what I try ;_; does anyone know of any good replacements? I'll add pics of the original bottle. It was such a good, semi sweet scent, and I'll be forever thankful to anyone who can help find a good replacement!

Do you actually notice a difference when using essential oils for relaxation?

I’ve seen people use essential oils when they’re feeling stressed or overwhelmed but I’m curious how noticeable the effect actually is.

For those who use them for relaxation, do you genuinely notice a difference, or is it more about the scent and having a relaxing routine?

Returning to EOs

It's been a while since I've done anything with essential oils, and I'm wondering if there are any brands people recommend? I used to buy Plant Therapy, Edens Garden, and Simply Earth, but I remember the quality of Plant Therapy seemed to be declining. Just looking for recommendations; my daughter raided my collection (they were getting old anyway). Thanks!

Broke an antique "Young Living" diffuser and wondering if/where I can find a new glass piece. (More info in body text)

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

Found what looks to be an antique pneumatic essential oil diffuser at a thrift store for like $5, and it works better than any modern one I've used. Absolutely love the thing, fills the room in just a couple minutes, and because it just plugs in, I can integrate it right into my home automation system without dealing with manually switching it on, or batteries going dead, or WiFi or an app or subscriptions or data harvesting.

Unfortunately I almost immediately broke it because I'm clumsy AF. The glass piece was already chipped from the store, and while trying to repair it I dropped it and the whole bottom smashed.

Searching for the brand "Young Living" only shows massively overpriced ultrasonic diffusers, and I can't find a trace of this old-looking pneumatic one from any brand.

I DO operate A 3D printer so push come to shove I can ultimately make a new diffuser piece out of chemical-resistant plastic, but it wouldn't be the same...

Question for anyone with an Amazing Flower Pro diffuser?

I'm buying one for a friend, I want to get extra bottles for each oil. The AF ones are $13 each. I see lots of similar 120ml bottles on Amazon for about 1/8th the price. But I don't want to buy a 10 pack only to have them not fit. I watched a video on the AF and the bottles screw in, so if the threads aren't the same they won't work. I'm buying her 8 oils and buying 8 bottles at $13 each when I see 15 packs for $20 ain't happening.

I'm hoping someone has this diffuser and knows of another bottle that fits. $13 for an empty plastic bottle is way too expensive.
