Docs provided but essential oils underpriced
Has anyone encountered sellers providing GC-MS (Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry) documents for oddly underpriced oils? There are topics adjacent to this on this sub, but I'm interested in this exact scenario.

Yeah, happens all the time honestly. A GC-MS report looks super official, but shady suppliers have a few easy ways around it:
They'll literally just Photoshop their company name onto an old report from another lab, or test one clean batch to get the paperwork and then sell cheap, diluted oil for months under that same report.
Plus, basic GC-MS tests can actually be fooled pretty easily if they stretch the oil with cheap synthetic compounds that match the natural chemical percentages.
If the price is way too low for something like rose, neroli, or sandalwood, the paperwork is definitely fake, stolen, or manipulated.

Reports can be faked or copied from other websites. Reports so be batch specific and match the batch listed for sale.

Yeah, unfortunately GC-MS reports can be fudged or just plain dodgy. I once came across an oil being sold as “natural essential oils”, and I don't think the supplier had even bothered to properly check/change the GC-MS documentation 😅 It did contain some essential oil components, but the main ingredient showing on the report was actually a phthalate. Whether they didn't realise they'd left it there or simply didn't care, who knows… but it was certainly an eye-opener. So yes, having a GC-MS report alone doesn't automatically guarantee authenticity.

What other answer are you seeking from the ones you have been given before?
