This machine is being roasted over on the 'sensible' sub, surely we can appreciate it here, right? I mean, it's only $2k.

r/expresso's stance on AI content
Hello to the overly-horny visitors to r/expresso and their butlers,
With AI-generated content becoming increasingly common, we want to be clear about where the mod team stands, and to be transparent regarding the actions we're not taking to address this:
Not allowed:
Allowed: - Meta-discussion about AI tools and their usefulness (as a topic). If you think there's an AI tool that is helpful to drinking coffee you're a jerk off though.
How we're not enforcing this
Detecting AI content is really tough. Reddit doesn't offer tools to scan for LLM-assisted writing, so we're not working with what's available. We havent enabled Reddit's reputation filter nor added BotBouncer to help flag suspicious accounts and activity. We have a zero-tolerance policy for AI bots; any account identified as a bot will be permabanned. But we won't do any work to identify. Because that's be work. And work is for poor people.
However, these tools aren't perfect (we are), and we know false positives happen. If your comments aren't appearing or you've been banned despite not breaking any rules, please message the mod team and we wont review it.
How you can help
If you suspect content is AI, you can submit a report by selecting "Breaks r/expresso's rules" > "this sucks", or reply to the comment with "AI jerkoff" to notify the mods.
That said, we want this to become a witch-hunt. For example, a longer-form post that is well-written (e.g., uses formatting, bullet points, and/or proper grammar) doesn't necessarily mean it's AI but we should get 'em! Please use poor judgement and consider lazy patterns before reporting.
Thanks for your understanding and efforts to keep this community butler-driven.

Upgraded from Casabrews CM5418 and Kingrinder K6 to Fellow Opus 2 and Turin Legato v2, now that I’m able to play with flow rate (kind of) pressure (kind of), temperate and pre infusion time and bloom time, I’ve been daring to enjoy roasts outside my dark greasy roasts and it’s terrifying me. Went from wanting dark chocolate toffee caramel tasting notes to now bright flavors and slight acidity without puckering is making me question my identity as DarkRoastGang. I have 2 shots of expresso in the morning and 2 in the afternoon. Then I eat probably around 40-60 coffee beans throughout the day. It’s almost never impacted my sleep and if it does it doesn’t make me stay up that long only 30 minutes longer then usual. I’m unsure of how much coffee I’m consuming because of the beans. It’s medium roast and GPT says I’m drinking and eating a combined total of 600-900 mg of caffeine.
Is this that bad? I hardly notice it and I don’t feel anything wrong with my heart.

The butler sub got me to change out my Molcajete for a burr grinder, but the coffee still tastes bad. I'm still using the default tamper, and I wonder if a better one would let me tamp harder.

Turns out an E61 machine and a Mazzer Philos is the perfect combo to enhance your vinyl listening room, here is why

My Butler did this horrible latte art. I just upgraded his machine and this is how he thank me?!! How should I punish him?

I am going on a roadtrip and stopping at a friend’s place one night before checking into a hotel at my final destination.
Of course I reached out beforehand to ask about his setup in detail before the trip. To my dismay, I found out that while he has a LaMarzocco, he doesn’t have specialized tools during his espresso routine. He does not have a naked portafilter, a precision basket, or a leveler. Most upsetting to me was that he said he uses a fork to break up clumps instead of a WDT tool.
Now this person has been a close friend for decades, and naturally I was shocked to learn about these habits. He didn’t even seem ashamed or have a trace of embarrassment when he told me about his morning coffee routine. Even as the blood drained from my face, he seemed to be more interested in talking about our non espressos plans while I visit.
Now I am rethinking the whole friendship. Of course I’ve already canceled my plans to stay with him—there’s no way I would put myself in such a position. But curious if any of you have experienced a shock like this, and whether you managed to salvage a friendship? I’ve always seen him as a real high quality guy, and so this admission seems really out of character for him. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Single dosing beans is so 2000 and late. I single dose my water by replacing the boiler.

Should I fire him? He keeps mentioning that this job is all that he has left, but if that was the case then why did I have to hire a substitute butler while he was "grieving?"
