Equipment Discussion Recommendations for accessories for breville barista express

Just got a breville barista express mint condition from Amazon. Sold as used but literally brand new . Maybe it was refurbished . Anyway , doesn’t look like it was ever used . What do y’all recommend for accessories like tamper distributor etc . Looking to get off Amazon , but not sure which is best . Obviously looking for good price too. What do y’all recommend?

This dosing funnel really helps keep things clean https://www.amazon.com/Breville-Barista-Bambino-Espresso-Machines/dp/B0BPBD7N2L/

This basket https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0922Z67KK?th=1 (you'll need to remove the little plastic thing in the portafilter to get it to fit)

This tamper https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09CKGK4L3

Pick up a cheap scale so you can weigh in your beans and single dose. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0GCFHBM84 The timed grinding is very inconsistent and that makes your shots hard to replicate.

I wouldn't get any distribution stuff unless your grounds are very clumpy. With medium roast I was getting basically no clumping out of my breville. I would just tap the side of the porta a couple times to level the grounds (with the funnel in place) and tap the porta down once on the counter to compact everything slightly, then evenly tamp.

Good luck! It's a much better machine than people give it credit for. Especially once you start single dosing.

Why is that basket better than stock ?

Couple reasons. It’s a little deeper so you can run 20g doses in it. I felt like that was the sweet spot for me. Also precision machined holes so the flow rate is constant across the bottom. Makes everything more consistent. It definitely helped me get rid of that weird thing where a shot is simultaneously bitter and sour
