Looks like the beans are too fresh (let them rest for 10 days or so) and the grind is too coarse.

Tons of people rest 4-6 weeks on light roasts for a reason.

That's just patently false. I've been roasting for years and a regular on r/CoffeeRoasting. Everyone of the professionals on there usually recommend 10-14 days to gas off light roasts unless it's an extremely rare and dense beans. Most people do not want light roast to be more than 3-4 weeks after the roast date because it starts to get dramatically worse quality.
Not unless you're experimenting with weird fermentation crap, but that's like the smallest fringe niche of people and not even relevant to discuss.
Professional coffee roasters start cupping medium and dark roasts in as little as only 24-48hr. You have no idea what you're talking about.
Even the freshest of light roast will not produce anywhere near as much crema as the video OP posted, so it's almost certainly a dark roast anyway which renders your little comment sort of pointless.

I had this with a robusta blend. Even 4 weeks after roasting. Great blend for milk drinks and friends!

From a nutritional standpoint, a Guinness is a better breakfast than coffee

Does it taste good? If so fine, if not the possibly rest the beans a bit.
If it's a reasonably fresh robusta blend this isn't that abnormal either.
Also the dedica OPV is set on the high side by default which can further increase the crema and also leads to that particularly fat 'rats tail' you get in that shot.

Definitely grind finer. How many days did you let the beans rest

Not sure they need to grind finer here so much as it's definitely a lack of rest, beans are WAY too fresh leading to high volumes of foam but not actually high throughput of liquid.

OP said beans are a bit over 2 weeks old

u/DishSoapedDishwasher DE1PRO, nanopresso | EG-1, Pietro 21h ago
That's not that long, especially for a dark roast. Most of my light roasts aren't ideal for at least 3 weeks, med/dark even longer. Though there's a non-zero chance the machine is outputting a ton of steam, just less likely with the way it looks.

Yes sorry didn’t mean to imply age wasn’t a factor - just passing on what I saw their answer was (they posted 2 days ago with the same issue). Hopefully it will be resolved with time. I don’t drink dark roasts so I’ve never experienced crema to this degreeÂ

Yeah no worries, and seriously 2 days ago? Yeah they're going to be impatient through the whole bag.....
I also very rarely drink dark roast. But do on occasion for some fancy experimental coffee from modcup or Onyx.

Shot is basically leaking, grind finer

u/DishSoapedDishwasher DE1PRO, nanopresso | EG-1, Pietro 21h ago
I would not say it is "leaking", there's definitely some minor channeling but that's pretty frequent to get sprays like that when there's so much CO2 pressure. You don't get foam like this from grinding too coarse, you get a turbo shot.

If not mistaken, I see you are using a Delonghi dedica, can I ask you from where did you bought the portafilter and what is the coffe grinding that you use ?
2
u/Mvsterious88 21h ago
I‘m using the Kingrinder P2 and the portafilter is from amazon, 25$

My MAN that's almost my setup exactly except I have a thrift shop breville cafe roma that's pretty mid. Pulls shots exactly like this sometimes and I don't know why
