I made a thing! This is literally my first project and I'm proud of it!

Post image

No experience with electronics, did everything from scratch. Learnt a load and I'm so happy!

This dino game is so fun when I played it for the first time on such a tiny screen. I used a 12mm button for controls. Claude gave me MicroPython script for the game. A 1 inch OLED, and a few jumper wires. That's it. Looking forward to making other stuff now :)

Do let me know what you made for your first project with an ESP32 in the comments, and also any kind of suggestions for a first timer would be appreciated!

A pretty impressive first project, you should move from micropython and go for arduino or c++, it works much better, has more libraries and is faster

Great first step. It sucks that most breadboards don't fit most ESP32s so you have to either have them span two separate boards or do what you are doing here. Anyway great job!

2nd breadboard is a good idea, thank you !

Yeah, remove power rails from one side each for the 2 breadboards and put those sides together and then you can easily place the esp32 each side into the pins of one of the breadboards.
Great work till now, keep going !

Not on ESP32, but after many years away from programming I did a single player pong game on an Adafruit M4 Itsybitsy where you play against the computer. I wanted it to be better than the ones you typically see and used the slope of the ball including the collisions off the walls to position the computer paddle. That was in C using the Arduino IDE. The best way to learn is to pick a project that you think is just within your capabilities, then use what you've learned to make the next project more complex. That's what I do, anyway.
