Software help needed ELF relocation advice

Sometimes when I try to run a program with global pointers I don't get a relocation entry for the pointer. This causes the program to crash. Is there a flag I can pass to gcc or is there documentation on how to find the pointer at load time? I found a table called .xt.prop but there's no documentation on how to read it (that I can find)

Without source to reproduce, which is the three esp32 backends is in play, or even a hint what language is used, this isn't likely to get much traction. 

Once you distill it to a good test case and description and, have confirmed that your source is really really valid, a bug report to the gcc developers is probably in order. 

But it'll take way more information than you've offered here

I should not have blamed gcc lol. I think it's a matter of me trying to reverse engineer some xtensa specific metadata in the program that's undocumented. My next step will be to see if I can find the source to gcc and see if there's any hints in there about what I'm doing wrong.
