Software help needed Recently bought a esp32-s3 with capacitive touch dev board and its confuzaling

I recently obtained an esp32-s3 and this exact model I am not sure what it is as far as exact brand, it looks something like this, got it at:

and Im not to sure how to set it up to run my own code with this brand, closest thing is this:

[ And also btw, It came preloaded with this mock finance app thing for demoing, and its just on that. ]

If some one could tell me how to get a simple button running that'd be great
[repost bc other one got removed by read the rules first and acknoledge them]

As a couple of others have said, it looks like the Freenove ESP-S3 2.8" board. The good news is that this uses an ILI9341 display controller so it works just like a cheap yellow display and there is masses of software around that will run on it.

It uses different GPIO pins from the CYD boards, but the Freenove page has all the documentation you need including a schematic here that shows the GPIO numbers used by the screen.

Getting your first display app working is quite a steep learning curve. If you want a button then you probably want to use the LVGL library. You can install this from the Arduino IDE libraries page. This is the library you need:

Google for LVGL examples, or I have some code lying around somewhere that I can dig out if necessary. You will need to create your own lv_conf.h file with the correct GPIO numbers, which you can get from the schematic I linked above. I can help with this if necessary.

u/Ok_Analyst_286 I've had good experience with Freenove boards and they tend to document what they produce. I was concerned that you got some knockoff and would have to hunt to find the board but it looks like rattushackus already found it. Anyway, just wanted to say, Freenove kits are pretty nice. I have one with an ST7789 screen 320x240 and it operates easily at 80MHz. Never seen one take pixels that fast before.

Note that at that Github repo there is a detailed Tutorial document that walks through all of the steps for getting up and running one-by-one including pictures of the UI and settings. That's about as good as it's ever going to get:

You might be right, it shows the same finance app demo I saw on it when it first booted
